Why can a simple outfit look expensive on one person and ordinary on another?
Sometimes, it’s not the fabric.
It’s the fit.
You can see two people wearing almost the same simple outfit. Nothing dramatic.
No heavy embellishments.
No expensive-looking details.
But somehow, one person just looks more put together.
And you start wondering, What is she wearing that I’m not wearing?
Sometimes, the answer is simply how the clothes fit her body.
The shoulder sits where it should.
The waist is in the right place.
The sleeves aren’t too tight or too loose.
The trousers fall properly.
The length makes sense for her height.
Nothing is fighting against her body.
And that can make even a very simple outfit look polished.
But here’s the thing I’ve noticed…
We sometimes focus so much on the price of fabric, the designer name, or how much detail is on an outfit that we forget about the fit.
You can spend ₦100k on an outfit and still not look as good as you expected if the fit is wrong.
And you can wear something very simple that fits you beautifully and suddenly, people are asking…
Where did you get that?
Does that mean everyone needs expensive clothes?
Not really.
I think it means we should pay more attention to how our clothes sit on us, not just what they look like on the hanger.
Because a beautiful outfit that doesn’t fit properly can lose some of its beauty.
And sometimes, the smartest upgrade to your wardrobe isn’t buying more clothes.
It’s learning what works for your body.
Knowing your measurements.
Understanding which cuts flatter you.
And being willing to spend a little more on the right fit when it matters.
Simple can look very expensive.
Sometimes, all it needs is to fit like it was made for you.
