✨ When Jealousy Speaks – Episode 4: When It All Burst

The flyer dropped on a Friday morning.

“Face of Reality: The Next Media Voice”
A big-shot talent hunt show. National coverage. Endorsement deals. A gateway to real stardom.

Amara applied casually, on the last day. She even joked with Chika, “I know I talk too much, so let me talk and cash out for once.”

Chika applied too — this time, more seriously.

They both waited.

When the email finally came, Amara screamed so loud the porter rushed to her room thinking something was wrong.

She had been selected.

Out of over 3,000 applicants, she made the top 50.

Chika didn’t.

She stared at her phone in disbelief.
No “Congratulations.”
Just: “Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately...”

Her hands trembled. She wanted to cry.
But anger rose faster than her tears.

She opened WhatsApp and saw Amara’s message:

> “Babe I made it!!! They picked me! 😭😭😭 I can’t believe this!”

Chika stared at the message, then swiped it away.

She went online.
Opened her status.
Typed carefully.
Paused.

Then posted:

> “Be careful of people who smile with you in public but feel threatened by your shadow in private. Wolves wear wigs now.”

It was sharp. Petty. Indirect.

But it was intentional.

Within hours, the post had screenshots flying around the department group chat. Everyone was asking, “Is this shade for Amara?”

And Amara… she saw it too.

Her fingers hovered over her screen for a long time.

Then she whispered, “So this is what it really is?”

✨ When Jealousy Speaks – Episode 2: Small Seeds

After the announcement, everything changed… subtly.

Amara was still the same — laughing loudly, sharing stories, dragging Chika along for impromptu hangouts. But Chika wasn’t the same.

She smiled, but it didn’t reach her eyes.
She clapped, but her palms felt heavy.
She posted “congrats,” but avoided tagging Amara again.

She told herself it wasn’t jealousy.
She was just tired. Busy. Distracted.

But the feelings grew quietly — like weeds in an unguarded garden.

One day, during lunch with a group of classmates, Amara’s billboard photo flashed on the screen in the café. Everyone gasped.

“She’s glowing o! Amara don turn celeb!”
Another added, “Even the camera dey respect her beauty!”

Chika laughed. Loud enough to silence the table.

> “Let’s see how long it lasts. All these attention seekers usually burn out fast.”

The laughter that followed was dry, confused.

Later that night, she opened Instagram, scrolled past Amara’s new post — a flawless picture captioned “Be the light, always.”

Chika didn’t like it.
She didn’t comment.
She just went to her own story and posted a quote:

> “Some people wear fake confidence like makeup. Wash it off, nothing remains.”

No names were mentioned.
But in the silence between them, something cracked.
