Recently, I had a client who contacted us to make an outfit. She was very detailed and knew exactly what she wanted from the style inspiration to fabric choice. The only thing she needed my opinion on was whether we should accessorize the dress, which I shared my opinion with her.

We finalized everything, and she made her deposit.

A few weeks later, the outfit was ready and delivered to the address she provided. Naturally, I was expecting the usual feedback. You know, as person wey sell something, you dey always look forward to hearing, “I love it!” or “It fits perfectly.”

But I didn’t hear anything.

So I reached out to ask if the dress fit well and if she liked it.

That’s when she told me something that completely caught me off guard.

She said, “it’s a beautiful dress but I can’t really say anything about the fit because it wasn’t for me. It was a gift for someone else, and I’ve already sent it to her in another state”

For a moment, I was both confused and excited. 😅

Confused because this client was so particular about every little detail that I had already pictured the outfit on her in my head. It never crossed my mind that she was creating such a masterpiece for someone else.

But more than anything, I felt genuinely excited for whoever received that gift.

Imagine opening a package and finding a bespoke outfit that was thoughtfully designed just for you. That’s a special feeling.

I wish I could see the receiver’s face the first time she wears it because that dress was effortlessly beautiful. It stood out without doing so much on it.

This morning while I was discussing with one of our good clients in USA 🇺🇸 and she sent this photo I had rush of emotions.

In this photo, I was nearing my 3rd trimester but I showed up for my business like nothing happened even though I intentionally took a break from time to time.

Being pregnant and running a business like mine requires an extra effort and I’m grateful to God that I built structures that stood in the gap in moments that I couldn’t.

My business never paused for one day and we did production back to back even the day I welcomed my baby.

I remember an ex deputy governor’s wife that I was discussing with about her dress a day before I had my baby and she couldn’t believe me when she called the next day for us to meet and I told her that I had just delivered my baby. She was still surprised so she had to ask if it was okay to see me because Dxaze be like film trick and I agreed. She came to the hospital and kept saying “ Uzie how did you do it ?” 😂

I remember aunty Ada Ujaligwa sending a chat to ask if her orders would be delivered since I just had my baby and I told her that everything was in place and we delivered same week while I was still in the hospital.

This morning I told myself that I don’t give myself enough credit as I should. Because for a business I started out of boredom and nurtured it to what it is and standing tall through it all despite the ups and down and no external funding, me sef no small. 🥰

Meanwhile, I was a hottie with a bump that year Tugod. 😅
