One of the biggest beginner mistakes? Cutting fabric before taking proper measurements. ✂️
I know the excitement of wanting to start sewing immediately, but skipping your measurements can cost you an entire project.
Imagine cutting your fabric only to realise it’s too small, the proportions are off, or the pieces don’t match your pattern. At that point, there’s little or nothing you can do to fix it, especially if you’ve already cut into expensive fabric.
Before your scissors touch the fabric:
✨ Take accurate body measurements.
✨ Double-check your pattern measurements.
✨ Mark your fabric clearly before cutting.
✨ Measure twice, cut once.
A few extra minutes spent measuring can save you hours of frustration, wasted fabric, and disappointing results.
