To most customers, every style is a "simple style"🙄. But we designers know that some styles may look simple on the surface but the moment you want to cut it, that is when you will realise that it is not as simple as you think.

What you expected to finish in minutes has already taken hours, and you still haven’t figured out how to begin. Yes, YouTube can help but if you no know the particular thing to search for nko 😆. Abi e no dey do una sometimes? 😂

So before that customer brings that "simple style", please analyse it well and if it's something you can do, carry on but if it's something you can't do, saying No will save you lots of headaches and stress.

Thank God for the bust caging technique. Sewing bustiers for fully endowed women just got sweeter😊.......I wanted to say easier before but abeg, e no easy! 😪. One can spend hours perfecting this part before moving to other parts of the dress. However, the good thing is that at the end of the day, the stress is worth it 💪

So I made this dress for my client some months back and the pictures have been sitting pretty in my gallery. Why should it be for my eyes only? What do you guys think? 🙃

Scrolling through the pages of Facebook, I came across a post on a sewing group that was asking fellow designers what they don't like about sewing. I quickly entered the comment section to type mine..... which is AMENDMENT 😆......and I saw that a lot of people share the same view as well🤣. Like seriously, that stuff is so annoying! So I can relate.

But the one I can't relate with is IRONING 😕. Why will you hate ironing? Some people even said they could finish sewing a whole garment without ironing it till they are done 😳. Omo, not me o. Every line I stitch, next thing is to iron. I love to see the beauty of each piece as I sew and ironing plays a big role in that. Plus by the time you are done with the garment, everything is neat and properly aligned.

Ironing just takes your garment from zero to 💯, I mean, just take a look at this cute baby dress na. Is it not giving? 😍Abeg, let me know in the comments.

Though I know it can still be tiring moving from your sewing machine to your ironing board back and forth but seeing the sweet finishing it gives is worth the stress to me. Abi na only me waka come? 🫣.....By the way, happy new month and sunday beautiful people 🥰

My 1st maternity photoshoot dress😊❤️

So my client reached out to me wanting to make a maternity dress for a photoshoot. She sent me her style inspiration but wanted some little changes.

1. She didn't want those exaggerated long gowns that won't be wearable after the photoshoot. She wanted something functional that can still be worn and not locked up in the wardrobe.

2. She wanted something simple, stylish and very comfortable. No unnecessary drama 😅

3. She also wanted a dress she can easily breastfeed in.......as a new mom to be.

After finishing up the dress, I showed her pictures on the mannequin. She was satisfied with the outcome and when she sent pictures of her in the dress, I was blown away!😍.....what do you guys think?

In this fashion business, I have come to realise that you cannot know everything! Where your knowledge stop is where another person own start and that is why one need to constantly upgrade their skill. Sadly, upgrade is not cheap but you can start from YouTube.

For example, I wanted to make a double welt pocket on this blouse for my client. I have only tried making a single welt pocket but not the double one. Na so I enter YouTube o. Watched a couple of videos......I don't just watch one. I like to see different tutors approach and pick the simplest method. And the best part of YouTube is that you can always go back and rewatch any video any day any time.

After watching the videos, I practiced on some scrap fabric before attempting it on my main fabric and this is what I came up with in just my 1st trial.

What is the essence of this post? Make YouTube your friend. By the way, how did I do guys? Rate my work 🙂

When fellow designers talk about the difficulty sewing a*o oke fabric especially dealing with fraying edges, I thought they were just over exaggerating because I have worked with one before and it didn't fray that much. Then my client sent me this one and I was like omooooo! which kin wahala be this😩😫

My 2 inches allowance was gradually turning to 1 inch and the part I used ½ inch was almost disappearing. Thankfully some tips these designers shared came in handy such as interfacing your a*o oke fabric and weaving the edge of the sewing allowance.

At the end of the day, everything went well and my beautiful client absolutely loved her dress. Truly, experience is the best teacher 😅. You'll never know the in and out of some things until you experience it.
