Good afternoon my wonderful audience, today I will like to talk about presbyopia. You may ask what's the meaning of this word PRESBYOPIA? It is more or less an age related or physiological change in eye condition, which has to do with the elasticity of the crystalline lens of the eye. I believe most of us have parents who put on their eye wear when they want to read. This is due to the once elastic crystalline lens becoming gradually inelastic and the eye losing its ability to accommodate and focus on prints at near. As most people get to the average of 40 years of age, they tend to experience a recession in their near point of focus. That's why some individuals from age 40 complain of having to move their reading materials away in order to read. Most times it is associated with blurring of vision at distance after reading at near for awhile and headache after exerting much accommodative effort. If in the morning when you want to read, you still require an extra light to read prints at near and you are average of 40 years and above, then know that presbyopia has set in. All you need to do is to visit a doctor of optometry for a comprehensive eye exam, and the appropriate recommendation will be made. ALWAYS REMEMBER.... HEALTH EYES, GOOD VISION. See ya!
