Sina Bahjat works sustainably because she genuinely dislikes waste. When she cuts fabric, she is very mindful of the leftover scraps. After seeing countless images and videos of textile waste piling up in beautiful landscapes or being shipped to developing countries, that’s not something she wants to support or contribute to.
Sina’s goal is to reduce her footprint as much as possible, so future generations can live in and help shape a better, more conscious society. Hence she prefers working with natural fibres. Beyond being more eco-friendly and biodegradable, they simply feel better on the body and come from natural resources.
At the moment, Sina is working on a simple Renaissance-inspired nightgown and morning robe, inspired by Catherine in the TV series The Great. Much of her inspiration comes from period dramas, romanticism, fairy tales, and a sense of escapism. She is drawn to ethereal, witchy, mystical, and celestial aesthetics. For Sina, fashion is soft, romantic, and expressive and she wants to improve her skills in making clothes for others, particularly in areas like fitting and pattern development!
