Zero Waste Gift Wrap Ideas
Who says you can’t wrap beautiful, thoughtful gifts and be sustainable at the same time?
◾️ Upcycle brown paper shopping bags. Use up your stash of Trader Joe bags by cutting them up and using them to wrap your gifts! You can add stenciled designs or get creative with markers to make them even more special.
◾️ Recycle your shipping boxes. This is a simple idea, but worth noting. Save the boxes your items are shipped to you in, and reuse them for wrapping gifts to place under the tree!
◾️ Add natural touches with the beauty you find in your own backyard. Sprigs of fresh herbs, pinecones, and dried leaves or flowers all make beautiful and unique gift toppers. You’ll save money and waste + wow your recipient with a gorgeous presentation.

A big part of sustainable fashion is FIXING pieces instead of tossing them out and buying new… So how do you repair loops when you find them in your Cape?
The best way to repair or reduce the damage is by looking at the direction of the pulled thread and stretching it back in place. To do this hold your Cape a few centimeters on either side of the loop and pull until you see the thread sitting back in place. That should help reduce the damage or even repair it completely.

How to Wash Wool Garments to Make them Last Longer 💦
Here is our process for washing wool to make it last longer:
💧 Fill a bucket with lukewarm water (30 degrees Celsius or 86 degrees Fahrenheit) and add a tablespoon of mild baby shampoo.
💧 Dip your JULAHAS garment and let it soak for a few minutes. Move it gently with your hands before removing. With dark colors, it’s normal for excess color to run in the first few washes.
💧 Replace the water with plain lukewarm water (same temperature as you first used), dip and swirl your garment.
💧 Don’t wring to remove the excess water. Roll your JULAHAS Cape between a towel to absorb excess water. Lay it flat to dry.
💧 Iron using a wool setting and ideally, place a thin protective fabric between the iron and your garment.
Spot removal:
- Instead of washing the entire garment, it is easier to address just the spot. Here's how: Wet the stained area. Gently brush away the stain in a circular motion using a toothbrush and a tiny amount of baby shampoo. Rinse off the lather under a tap and lay flat to dry.
- Iron it on a wool setting using a protective cloth between the iron and your garment.
