Danish architect Jørn Utzon (1918–2008) is best known as the designer of Sydney Opera House, but he also designed a number of lights that have had an equally enduring appeal, amongst them the Utzon Pendel, created in the early 1950s.

Few architects have been as closely associated with a single building as Utzon was with the 1973 opera house, which emerges -- part sailboat, part sea creature -- from a site on the edge of Sydney Harbor. When it was declared a World Heritage Site on 28 June 2007, Utzon became only the second person to have received such recognition for one of his works during his lifetime, after Oscar Niemeyer.

Blue Facet-Pop designed by Louis Weisdorf and issued by Lyfa in 1970.

It's constructed from 18 castellated metal strips, identical in shape but in three different tones of colour, woven together to form a cylinder measuring 18 cm in diameter and 27 cm in height.

The light emerges through small gaps between the strips, protecting the eye from glare.

The Facet-Pop's colour schemes were created by Danish artist Richard Branderup, this example in cyan blue tones of aqua, sky and kingfisher.

The lamp is in excellent, near-mint condition and comes in the original carton box.
