Whisk Food Studio approached me to design two headpieces to highlight some major sustainability issues in the food industry. This piece is made from wheat and barley. These crops strip nutrients from soil, so the need to rotate them each year, with new and different crops, is crucial. Not only to help the soil regain its fertility and make new crops easier to grow, but also to reduce the need for synthetic fertilizers and herbicides, leading to a more sustainable ecosystem.
