Thanks for being interested in the story behind Pippa Kleedt! (Kleedt is the dutch word for “dresses you up”).
Why don't we start with some good old fashioned oneliners? Like: "my name is Pippa and my favorite activity is styling, collecting vintage clothing and making other people feel happy!"
Beside the fact that this is very true, there's more to this story. I grew up in a really small town (in the centre of the Netherlands). When I hit the age of 16, it became important to me to look more like a lady (instead of a pot-smoking dude). The problem with living in this small town was that there was a lack of taste, clothing-wise. So that made me re-make my own clothes. And it worked out: I got my first boyfriend!
So why clothes matter to me still? It's a way to expres myself, non-verbally. Which for me, since I can be pretty shy, is the perfect way to communicate with the world around me. I can be bold, extreme, progressive, creative in my clothing, depending on how I feel that day - without having to talk about it. It gives me a feeling of freedom.
Ok, enough about me and more about you! I started Pippa Kleedt to make you happy! I love styling because of the happy faces I see afterwards. And why the vintage clothes? Firstly, these clothes are of much higher quality than all of the mass produced clothes you will buy in large shops. Another advantage is that you're the only one wearing it, because there's only one of each piece. This gives you the opportunity to totally create your own style, no copy cats involved!
Also, you're not the only one who will be happy with the re-use of vintage clothing. How about the people in India and Bangladesh in the clothing industry? Working their *ss off for less than €20 a month (while the minimum is around €60 a month). I guess they must be happy that you're not sponsoring their stingy employer.
Because I'm so happy with each piece of clothing I've treated them with love and care. If possible, I've washed and steamed them for you. Some items I’ve made myself or re-made. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact me! You're always welcome to drop by!
Have a great one,
Pippa
