Ikat is a dyeing technique in which the pattern is created by locally binding off the yarn, leaving parts undyed, resulting in graphic patterns after knitting. Every scarf is unique cause of the knitting technique and the ikat technique combined. 🤪 Hard to explane by the way 😊. 🇳🇱

Knitted lace originated in the 15th century, when elaborate decorations and intricate patterns were considered a sign of wealth and status. Garments and accessories made of knitted lace were highly sought after, as their manufacture required both skill and patience. I started knitting scarves in lace like pattern to make the scarves lighter to wear. And by knitting in two colors you can mixe colors at the same time.

IKAT is a traditional, centuries-old textile technique in which patterns are created by dyeing the yarns (warp or weft) before they are woven or knitted. It is a form of reserving or resist-dyeing, in which parts of the yarns are tied off to repel the dye, resulting in the characteristic, somewhat ‘fading’ pattern. There are lots and lots of scarves. What makes them special? First I think the color, but than the pattern, design and so much more. This scarf is greyisch, knitted in black and white. Só special it turns out like that! Again, mixing colors even during knitting, it gives the result like mixing colors with paint. Except mixing colors there are other techniques to make something beautiful with a knitted scarf. Look at this one. Ones made and never again! 😂 Tó much work by hand, but good to show to all of you. ❤️

An old technique in a new guise. Knitting yarn thats tyed and dyed first and then knitted. You never know whats going to happen afterwards. 😁 But that makes it só nice to do. By now I’m a somewhat more experienced seeker and know how it works. Sort of😉 . 🌷

In Springtime you need a scarf in Springcolors! This one is in beautiful colors, lightblue, olivegreen and Applegreen along with some supporting colors. In S size (22 x 180cm) and also available in size M and other colors. The scarves are knitted in organic cotton and lasts almost a lifetime. Só durable!! 😁.

Even the statue of Liberty is fan of SJAWLS as you can see in this image. In this picture both persons are wearing a basic scarf, knitted in multiple colors. The basic scarf is always knitted with two colors at the same time, one in front and one in the back. This gives the same blending of two colors as if you were mixing with paint. A very special efffect. Cheque the site and find your favorite color.
