Van de week geschilderd, gisteren gestoomd, vanmorgen gewassen en gestreken – en nu al stralend de winkel uit.

Gordijnen op maat
Voor een gloednieuw appartement in Deventer, kreeg ik de eervolle opdracht om gordijnen te ontwerpen die passen bij de sfeer van het appartement en de bewoners.

Tijdens mijn eerste bezoek zag ik een spannende kleurencombinatie van aubergine-kleurige meubels en vloerkleed en een groene muur. Niet alledaags, maar juist daardoor een inspirerende uitdaging!

Doordat ik de gordijnen op de computer ontwerp, heb ik de mogelijkheid om de kleuren op een harmonieuze manier samen te brengen. De keuze is gevallen op een dessin met een golvend patroon, waarbij ik bewust een zachte overgang maakte tussen de aubergine-paarse en groene tinten – zodat het menggebied geen ‘viezige’ kleur wordt.

Nadat de keuze was gemaakt voor een ontwerp, is er een proefprint gemaakt op de juiste stof. Na goedkeuring werd het dessin in één grote baan geprint – dus zonder storende naden of herhaling. Daarna werden de gordijnen in een professioneel atelier genaaid en opgehangen door een specialist in gordijnmontage.

Het resultaat is een harmonieus, warm en bijzonder interieur met ook nog eens een veel betere akoestiek.
Altijd bijzonder om te zien hoe een huis veranderd door het aan te kleden met gordijnen precies afgestemd op het interieur.

This week is a week full of inspiration in my own country and I’m so lucky with the beautiful spring weather! It’s already making me feel so cheerful, and all the art I’m seeing here is just adding to the joy. I started in Amsterdam and, of course, had to meet up with . We had a lovely lunch together on a sunny terrace. Even on vacation, I’m never without my wool! I had a piece of rusty red prefelt with me, which turned out to be the perfect match for the vase Zsofia is working on, featuring a painted silk in rust and turkoois. A funny little detail – both Zsofia and I ended up wearing outfits in colors that matched the wool. Can’t be a coincidence 😁 Anyway, we had a wonderful, cozy lunch and, of course, brainstormed for the upcoming “Artful Object” masterclass that we will teach together soon!

Another stunning bag!
Yesterday, Marijke Blanken brought another beautiful bag to my store. I designed and printed waterproof fabrics with Colorsofellen patterns, and Marijke transforms them into stunning bags, combining them with high-quality leather.

The result? A perfect harmony of colors, textures, and craftsmanship! In the picture, you can see Marijke proudly showing off her latest creation.

Jeanet Koek viel voor deze bijzondere tas en nam als eerste een exemplaar mee naar huis.

Deze tassenserie is een samenwerking tussen Marijke Blanken en mij, beide uit Deventer. Het dessin is een van mijn grafische ontwerpen. Marijke heeft de stof op een prachtige manier gecombineerd met bijpassende kleuren leer.

Spring is in the air!
I often create custom pieces for others, but this time, I felt like making something just for me—something that brings me pure joy! With spring on the horizon, I wanted to wear color, movement, and happiness.

I hand-painted this beautiful satin silk, and a wonderful local atelier (H&S Engestraat 9 Deventer) turned it into this gorgeous skirt. Feeling so happy twirling around in it!

Creativiteit & gezelligheid in mijn atelier in Deventer!
Wat een geweldige dagen waren het in mijn werkplaats! Een enthousiaste groep cursisten heeft zich laten onderdompelen in de kunst van het zijde schilderen. De meesten hadden geen ervaring, maar dat was absoluut niet te zien aan de prachtige sjaals die ze hebben gemaakt – stuk voor stuk uniek en vol kleur!

Naast het creatieve proces waren het vooral ontspannen en inspirerend dagen. Heerlijk om te zien hoe iedereen genoot van het schilderen én van elkaars gezelschap. Dank aan alle deelnemers voor de fijne sfeer en de mooie resultaten!

A Gift to Shine!
This lovely customer received a gift card for her birthday from my shop (Colors of Ellen). She was looking for a scarf to brighten up her black outfit—and she found the perfect one!

She chose a hand-painted, high-gloss satin silk scarf, which she wore on her birthday party. The generous gift-givers could immediately see her choice. I think it suits her beautifully!

This piece began as a digital design, printed on silk and transformed with wool to create a unique felt texture. Once stretched on a frame, it found its perfect home in a modern house nestled in the forest. Not only has it brightened the space, but it’s also enhanced the acoustics.
