I remember taking this photo, just outside Javana’s workshop in Kathmandu a few years back. An image of two elderly Nepali women taking a rest and having a chat. When you take a closer look, it also tells a story: a lifetime of hard work and resilience; a lifetime of giving and sacrificing. Nepali women are anchors of their community, being role models for future generations of women while nurturing and passing on cultural traditions and rituals from their foremothers. Today on International Women’s Day, we celebrate Nepali women and all women around the world.
