New in this cube size LV monogram hatbox from the 1930s. The perfect side table or night stand size, 60x47x55cm. Both sides have the original leather handles and EC initials.

Yesterdays Paris auction showed some amazing results ! It was a spectacular and breathtaking bidding war that seemed to never end. Many bids were placed in the last seconds and over 25% off the items reached absolute crazy highs! These results prove that vintage LV luggage has become serious business and there is a lot of demand. Not only for rare collectible trunks high bids were put but also for rather standard ones. It looks like this has grown into a full grown collectible niche market. We have a few rare collectable items availabe which make very interesting alternative investments. A malle fleur, an Encyclopedia and a running board trunk.

Collector alert : A mint condition 1910 Louis Vuitton malle fleurs with oilpaint lining. Size : 28x14x11cm or 11×5,5×4,3inch.
The ‘Malle Fleurs’ model of a miniature trunk was usually offered as a gift to wives or companions of Vuitton clients. Some contained a zinc liner and plants, and could be returned to Vuitton to be fitted as cigarette or jewellery boxes. They are constructed of papier maché and are therefore largely un-restorable if damaged – the survival rate of examples in good condition is consequently very low, explaining their rarity and high value

The iconic Chrysler building was built in 1930 for the Chrysler Car Company on New York’s Lexington Avenue. For one year it was the world’s tallest building with 319 meter and 77 floors. I was lucky enough to visit this architectural masterpiece last week and admired the beautiful art deco entrance of the building. For one of our clients I picked up this vintage LV hatbox that honours the Chrysler building in a very pretty and stylish way.

Yesterday I did this amazing banfind in Belgium. A mint condition hatbox with 6 shoe compartments and the best destination labels I have ever seen. One shows the ‘around Africa’ cruise by the North German Lloyd shipping company ship SS Columbus. Another label proves the visit to the Kenyan New Stanley Hotel in Nairobi and shows several wild animals. And labels of travels to Buenos Aires etc. Inside the lid a handwritten clothing packing list on St Regis Hotel (NY)stationary.

When you buy a great trunk owned by a German Baron who runs a beer brewery. And you cheers to this deal with his very own brewed beer! The best part of my job is definitely sourcing trunks and meeting the greatest people.

Lots of new Trunks in! Some of them you don’t see to often like the Hemingway Library trunk, the Pharmacie Red Cross box and the Lily Pons shoe trunk which sold even before it arrived in our showroom.
Vacation mode ! Currently I am recharging my battery after a crazy busy first half year. Between the regular sales I built an amazing 40 pieces LV trunk collection for a new client. Not only he can enjoy his trunks every day but he will also benefit from the value increase that this alternative investment will bring in the future. Investing in luxury branded goods has never been so popular since inflation keeps on rising.
A few new arrivals today! Two great coffee table size trunks (80 and 110cm wide) and the’Beast of Paris’ - The largest trunk we ever had measuring 137cm tall and 93cm wide. What a majestic piece in your hallway or master bedroom. It was made to order in the 1920 for a French lady wearing the initials C.R.
When we discover new trunks far away we have them shipped over by UPS. On arrival in our workshop we unpack them and study hotel or travel labels and the restoration that is nescessary. Its an important part of our work to preserve the character of a trunk and not to over-restore it. These babies will be given a lot of TLC before appearing on our website and find a new home.
