For people who know me really well, my Indonesian roots are known. Therefore I am proud to announce Edge of Raw is collaborating with Sebastian from Boomi.Sindikat to introduce the awesome denim brand craftdenim.id in our shop on September 12th!
Craft Denim Sindikat is a small denim project connecting their work in Indonesia with Europe. They work with traditional Indonesian weaving and natural dyeing, creating denim in small quantities with a strong focus on craftsmanship, materials and the way a garment develops through wear.
According them, denim is not about making something look vintage from day one. It is about making something that can become vintage through use. I totally agree on this one!!

The new Salt & Pepper fabric is handwoven in Indonesia on traditional handlooms. The warp and weft are individually hand-dyed using natural dyes.
The deep colour comes from a combination of natural indigo and a dark red-brown dye made from mangrove bark. The indigo creates the deep blue foundation, while the mangrove dye gives the fabric its warm, earthy brown character.
Once these yarns are woven together, the colours create a surprisingly deep and complex tone. Depending on the light, the denim can move between deep indigo, charcoal, brown and almost black.

Because the yarns are hand-dyed and the fabric is handwoven, there are subtle variations in colour and texture throughout the cloth. These are not imperfections — they are part of the character of the fabric and a reminder that it was made by people, not a machine.
And this is where it gets interesting: the natural colours will continue to change with wear. As the denim is worn, friction and everyday use slowly reveal the different tones within the fabric.
The denim doesn't just fade. It evolves.
