EPISODE 1 • MEET LUNA 🌙❤️

Well, we had to start at the beginning…

Meet Luna — the very first handbag Ugo designed when Gitana was still just an idea, a lot of conversation and, no doubt, several cups of coffee.

Two and a half years later, she's sitting rather proudly in our Maastricht window — dressed in glorious red suede and getting more than her fair share of attention.

Can we blame her? Absolutely not.

Round, plump and wonderfully tactile, her shape gave her the name Luna — moon in Italian. And that suede? Let's just say we have a serious soft spot for it.

So it felt only right that Luna should be the star of Episode 1 of Gitana Stories.

Most mornings in Maastricht start the same way for me: coffee, a leash, and Luigi leading the adventure, at least for a few more days.

Our early walks have become one of my favourite parts of the day. Before the city wakes up, the cobbled streets are almost silent, the light is soft, and every alley seems to hold a secret waiting to be discovered.

What amazes me most is the history all around us. These streets have been here for centuries, and somehow they still feel fresh and inspiring. Some mornings it feels like Italy, other mornings like a hidden corner of France — and then you turn another corner and Maastricht reminds you that it is entirely its own.

This is the rhythm that inspires Gitana: slow enough to notice the details, curious enough to explore, and colourful enough to make everyday life feel special.

Beautiful places. Good people. A dog who insists on taking the scenic route.

That, for me, is the Gitana lifestyle.

Amsterdam. We're here.
We've been walking the city this week. Watching how people move through it. What they carry. What they reach for.
It felt like the right place to begin.
Gitana designs handbags from Italian calf leather and suede. We've been doing that for a while. Getting the weight right. The structure. The way the leather feels after it's been broken in. These are the things that matter to us.
Now we're looking for our first store, somewhere to bring the bags, and the other things we've spent a long time searching for. Capsule ranges, chosen carefully. Jewellery. Candles, Home Fragrances and Apparel. Nothing that doesn't belong.
Europe, we're glad to be here.
