Everyone a wonderful 2020! Reviewing 2019 I'm so happy to say it actually brought me a whirlwind of multidisciplinary highlights, which were beautiful opportunities to work with old and new friends 🙂
In continuation of previous years we dressed the stupendously gifted Lucas & Arthur Jussen who have set a new benchmark combining daring bespoke with musical prowess. 🌟
In a similar vein, media darling and presenter Splinter Chabot lit our hearts when he won the Esquire Nederland Best Dressed Male Award 2019, taking our textile art couture main stage and on to DWDD. 🌟
For Austrian singer Riccardo Di Francesco we directed a video with Doralin Cirstea from Nedpress featuring the stunning Daria Zueva in a machine-embroidered hessian creation trimmed with human hair, a couture piece in our group exhibition Trois Romantiques Têtus with Malou Busser and Niek Verschoor. 🌟
The Human Zoo show introduced ceramicist Alita Dekker, who stylised clay animal heads proved once and for all that couture and ceramic art make for a thoughtful marriage. 🌟
Our solo exhibition Vessels for the Muses at Kadmium Delft, curated by Coby Brinkers, broke attendance records! On show were the couture and tapestries created for the opera Bianca e Fernando for Opera St Moritz, the Delf'wear collection, and a retrospective of bespoke suits designed for Lucas & Arthur Jussen. Enough reason, I thought, to organise a Meet & Greet with the boys. Sure enough, a hilarious evening with an impromptu performance 😁🌟
Our biggest project for 2019 by far though was my small theatre adaptation of Verdi's I Due Foscari for Opera St Moritz. Being responsible for direction, scenography and the couture was a creative challenge.
I consider myself fortunate to have worked alongside music Director Olga Pavlu with an impressive international cast, choir and orchestra who collectively gifted us with striking performances that earned standing ovations both at Maloja Palace and Reithalle Wenkenhof in Riehen. 🌟
Equally fortunate to have again worked with Ken Bridgen, who stood tirelessly by my side as assistant director and model for Vessels for the Muses.
Creative projects are all about conveying mutual trust in each other's muses. Thank you all for your trust and making 2019 all the more memorable! And to our followers: thank you for the love this past year! On to a wonderful 2020! ###
In last weekend's issue of Trouw an interview with Splinter Chabot wearing one of our bespoke suits. Thank you for the majestic love! ❤️

Anticipating a milder winter (or alternatively, a valid reason to flash your friends) with our worn under a woolen coat.
Lighting up the oncoming darker days with a little colourful seduction is a good way to spend your time anyway 🔥 ###
After all the excitement last week it's back to our beautiful daily grind of creating textile art. 😀 A textile work in progress: different stages of a pastoral scene for a modern five panel folding screen.
Wool fibre is by hand onto a wool backdrop after which we've added multiple layers of cut fabric netting and wool yarn in a zigzagging meandering pattern. The multi-layered textile is then needle punched again and with some of our own floral designs.
Image of final result to follow! ❤️
He did it! (We knew he would 😄) The beautiful Splinter Chabot has won the Esquire Nederland Best Dressed Male Award for 2019 last night! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Dressed to the nines in one of our haute couture pieces from our current exhibition Trois Romantiques Têtus, a , handwoven dobby jacquard creation of wool and silk, detailed with differen yarn.
Earlier yesterday he came round the gallery to pick up his costume, camera crew in tow for a televised interview for Koffietijd / 5 Uur Live on RTL4.
Thrilled to be working on his outfits! 😍 You absolutely smashed it, Splinter!
The very, very wonderful Splinter Chabot is shortlisted for the Esquire Nederland Best Dressed Male Award, and came to pick up his couture for tonight's event 😁.
All under the watchful eye of a camera crew from Koffietijd / 5 Uur Live. We had a little interview, which will be broadcast tonight between 5 and 6 on RTL4. Not home on time? You can catch it later tonight online at 5uurlive.nl! (And see the actual couture) ###
A green sheen as we move into the darker months, in this double sided silk and wool suit fitted with extreme sleeve lengths for maximum cuff effect. Worn over a guipure lace shirt. A little light for the oncoming dark days ❤️

For this wrap around bodice worn over a gold silk dress, we created a handwoven mohair and wool textile that we gathered over the warp. The tassels on the back are made from braided warp threads.

I love how handmade textiles can work a silhouette: a unisex manteau du soir of handwoven wool with tiered fringing of different yarn. From l'Oeuvre Noire ❤️
Parisian nostalgia, photograph (shot on film!❤️) of a look from l'Oeuvre Noire, my first collection shown in Paris (1999-2000), this handwoven mohair skirt exemplifying our haute couture fabrics.
A select range of these exclusive, timeless pieces are on show in our exhbition Trois Romantiques Têtus at KV2 in The Hague. ###
Textural extremities of roughly spun hessian and an intricate, machine embroidered pattern coming together in a mantle and dress. One of our musueum pieces on show at Trois Romantiques Têtus at KV2, The Hague.
The ensemble features in a videoclip by Nedpress, which we've directed for Riccardo Di Francesco.
Worn by Daria Zueva.
