Morgen!! Het Charlois Film Festival vindt deze zaterdag 3 oktober plaats van 14:00 tot 20:00 uur in de voormalige Metro-bioscoop, tegenwoordig de thuisbasis van het legendarische Subway Pool Centrum café.

Op 3 oktober presenteren we, in samenwerking met mint2, de mini-documentaires van Halte Charlois en een selectie van ingezonden films als onderdeel van Charlois Fashion Week.

Met films van Kjettil, Marta Hryniuk, suus, kobuskeij & DIEVER ZANDVLIET, jarmowillering, Sterre, Lena philippa verhoeff, Fé Baan & Eseroeper, FILM BY VANESSA en Lo77E.
En om het geheel af te sluiten: Film Stories met Gyz La Rivière.

CHARLOIS MUZIEK NACHT, 3 oktober!

We hebben nog twee acts voor de Charlois Muziek Nacht om aan te kondigen: Ofra en Gris! Zij brengen ebm, synths en electro naar Cafe de Spiegel van 22:00-00:00. Gratis toegang!❤️

Ofra:
Rotterdam-based has been a familiar presence in Rotterdam music scene for years. Whether behind the decks in a packed club or hosting an intimate radio show, she is driven by a passion for sharing music.
In her sets, she moves through Wave, New Beat, EBM, Electro, Acid and Synthpop, alongside a lasting love for Punk and Shoegaze. As both a DJ and curator, she is constantly exploring connections between artists, audiences and sounds.

Gris:
Looking for q***r influences in electronic music, Robin de Haan / Gray nostalgically regards industrial’s orgins as counter-music that refused to be categorized. Inspired by it’s subversive heritage, their sound leans heavily on body music’s dark, machine-like rhythms and french electro’s otherworldly melodies. Yet slightly campy at the same time. They were introduced to Rotterdam’s underground music scene through Roodkapje , where they gravitated towards the strange sounds they made their own through the guidance of Ampfeminine.

HULP WANTED: Wij zoeken vrijwilligers die ons tijdens de Charlois Fashion Week willen helpen met verschillende taken. Werkzaamheden kunnen zijn: op- en afbouw expo/ filmfestival/ muziekronde, hulp bij modellen kleden, host, publieksbegeleiding, bar/ catering.

In de periode van 30 september t/m 12 oktober:

FILM STORIES X GYZ LA RIVIÈRE

Op 3 oktober presenteren we, in samenwerking met mint2, FILM STORIES X GYZ LA RIVIÈRE als onderdeel van het Charlois Film
Festival bij Subway Pool Centrum Café!

Film Stories is een open gesprek over het volledige beeld van filmmaken, inclusief de compromissen, beslissingen en dilemma’s die daarbij komen kijken.

Voor de 9e editie van Film Stories heeft Mint2 de Rotterdamse kunstenaar en filmmaker Gyz La Rivière uitgenodigd. Het gesprek vindt plaats van 18:30 tot 20:00 uur en is Nederlandstalig.

GYZ LA RIVIÈRE
Gyz La Rivière (1976, Rotterdam) is een beeldend kunstenaar die werkt met film, installaties, grafisch werk, videokunst, neonwerken, publicaties en readymades. In 1997 opende La Rivière zijn eerste tentoonstelling bij MaMA . Sindsdien heeft Gyz aan meer dan 135 tentoonstellingen deelgenomen. Zijn multidisciplinaire praktijk combineert onderzoek, verzamelen, filosofie en humor, waarbij hij zich vaak richt op tijd en de veranderingen binnen de stedelijke samenleving en beeldcultuur.

Zijn meest recente film, Videotheek Marco (96 min.), maakte deel uit van het focusprogramma van IFFR 2025 over het fysieke medium VHS. De film vertelt het verhaal van de eigenaren van de laatste videotheken van Rotterdam en gebruikt de videotheek als lens om het leven in de wijk, straatcultuur en de sociale veranderingen van Rotterdam sinds 1965 te onderzoeken.

We zijn benieuwd hoe Gyz al deze verschillende disciplines door de jaren heen heeft gecombineerd en hoe hij erin is geslaagd om te blijven creëren, experimenteren en plezier te vinden in het maken.

The Charlois Film Festival will take place in the former Metro cinema, now home to the legendary Subway Pool Centrum cafe!

On 3 October, in collaboration with mint2, we will present the Halte Charlois mini-documentaries and a selection of submitted films as part of Charlois Fashion Week.
Meet the first five filmmakers selected for this year’s programme, featuring ten films in total:

Kjettil Gerritsen
Kjettil (2001, the Netherlands) is a filmmaker based in Rotterdam. His work approaches filmmaking as an exploratory and reflective practice, focusing on subtle observations of human experience. Working intuitively and often embedding himself within the communities he films, Kjettil develops his projects through close collaboration and attentive engagement. His films examine how individuals and groups adapt to changing cultural and personal environments, favouring visual storytelling that invites reflection rather than fixed conclusions.

A Good Man
“A Good Man” explores masculinity through a close-knit martial arts community built on brotherhood and faith. The film invites you to step onto the mat, and ask yourself: what is your place in society?
