We always knew, after closing our webshop and screen print cafe, we didn’t want to stop Bobbinhooding. It took us a while (traveling, surfing, meditating) to analyse what parts we looooved about Bobbinhood and what parts we didn’t. We love you obv, we love creating, we love screen printing, we love working together with artists, we love making clothes last for a looong time… we didn’t love feeding the ‘always wanting more’ alghorythm of Instagram, turning our creativity in 15 seconds reels, feeling we had to ship every day, etc etc. we love fitting Bobbinhood into our ever changing personal (family) live and not the other way around. I think for a while we forgot the reason we started Bobbinhood. To make things last longer, to slow down and to fill our hearts with creativity. So we are consciously uncoupling from Instagram and moving on to substack where we feel (and hope) there is more time . See you there? ❤️💛💜💚🧡💙🩷

Stencils. They make it possible to screen print without chemicals (yay planet 🌎). We tried so many things before we found the perfect stencils. They’re waterproof, can be used a gazilion times and are so smooth and easy to cut by hand (or cameo/cricut if you prefer). I think we can honestly say they’re the best out there 🧨

10 year ago I set on the adventure to screen print at home. I started the classic way with light sensitive chemicals, made a dark room out of my bathroom, saw how the chemicals went down the tub, same tub our family used and it scared me. But I really liked the ease and sharp prints of screen printing. So I went on a quest to find a way to combine screen printing with stencils so I could skip the chemicals. I tried all kinds of different screens, meshes, squeegees, stencil papers and inks until I had the holy combination, Bobbinhood was born. We made and sold all those materials for years in our webshop and now that the webshop is closed (different eras ask for different business models, right?) we made a guide where we tell you all about that holy screen print combination. We spill our secrets about mesh counts, rubber stiffness, stencil papers and everything else you need to know to screen print without those scary chemicals at home.
And since we looooove paper goods we made it into an actual paper (magazine style) version. Only available through pre-order since we will doing one print run (there might be a discount in one of our latest newsletters, check out our Substack or head to The Guide post).

A really cool 13 year old girl printed this at a workshop we hosted at a high school today. Love it so much! We try to inspire kids to up-cycle their clothes: print over stains, spice up a boring shirt… and then they inspire us with their cool ideas and art. Oh the joy to have your own creative company!
