NIEUWE MEUK is a Rotterdam based fashion label, founded by Amber Brandsma and Els Kuijt and started September 2012 with the kick-off at the Minishop of Roodkapje, Rotterdam. Fashion designer Amber and spatial designer Els found each other after graduating and discovered they are both inspired by the idea of boredom. In their opinion great designs already exist, therefore they don’t feel the urge t
o surpass these designs. The existing archive of designs and patterns functions as an inspiration for a whole new library of items. Those existing patterns and designs remain visible within the designs of NIEUWE MEUK, which gives them a new platform. The process starts by finding a vintage piece at the flea market. After that, it's ready to evolve. We strip it down, copy the pattern and reduce it to its essence. Then we reinterpret and adjust it in multiple ways until it’s NIEUWE MEUK, characterized by its simplicity and soberness. CONTACT
