☀️ Growing means not giving up ☀️ I am still in the very early stages of building my small business, but every step I take is feeling like the exact thing I was supposed to be doing to achieve my dream ✨ For the first collection I printed only one print and sewed it with my simple sewing machine 🪡 It felt like "I am off for an adventure" (hey Hobbit) 😁 The second collection had two different prints, a new (second hand) serger and a new sewing space in my bedroom 🖥️ It felt like the light at the end of the tunnel was getting a bit bigger every day 🔦 Now we're here, with the third collection in feverish preparation. With a brand new set of studio lights, 2 new gorgeous summer prints and a brand new item, it feels like a dream! I'm not going to lie, having just a few orders can feel discouraging, and make me doubt at times. Behind the scenes of our spring photoshoot! 😍 It was the first time I organised and did a photoshoot and there are definitely things I did not think about, even more than I did wrong, but most of all, I learned a lot! Story time - Why I took a break from my small business 🧡 When I was younger I always imagined myself as a big cooperative girl boss babe. Until one day mid pregnancy, I realised that I prefer the simpler life. A life where I am available for my kid and don’t miss out on her milestones. A day-to-day where I can be present while being creative. And the idea to transform my great-grandma's sewing legacy into a modern online store for children’s clothing started to take shape. Little did I know that starting a small business is quite challenging, takes a lot of time and its beginnings can be discouraging. I had to find for myself that it takes perseverance, consistency, lots and lots of effort, learning and FAILING. The failing part is what got me, and made me take some time in order to regroup, come back to the base of my creativity and search for my own motivation. A motivation so strong that can get you through all those hard moments of gaining an audience, showing them the craftsmanship their kids deserve, making your first sales and letting people know you and your brand.
