This is a shout out to the archeological park itself!
The Archeon is an interactive museum open year round with reenactors doing crafts and leading demonstrations across some 6 different periods of Dutch history: prehistory, bronze age, iron age, roman age, viking age, and multiple eras in medieval. It was super cool. I highly recommend for any nerds visiting the Netherlands

I have recently taken up weaving bands with a heddle loom and I am enjoying it a lot!! I began because of my research on ancient textile production for my MA thesis. I wanted to get a sense for weaving, and experience with my hands what I read about. These are all the belts I have woven so far using naturally dyed 100% linen threads.

I plan to have belts such as these to accompany my chitons next time you see me selling at a booth 😊 happy reenacting

I had the privilege of being able to see in person the very pieces I used as inspiration from my stripe collection!!

While none of these were exact replicas, you can see through browsing them how I copied both fabric colors and placement of differently colored stripes from frescoes such as these in Pompeii and Herculaneum. If only I would have gone FIRST …. 😂 a few of the single stripe Roman women’s pieces are still available online.
