The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India, in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), is organizing the 14th edition of `INDIA CHEM 2026’ from 22-24 October 2026 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre,Mumbai, India. The theme for the 2026 edition is “Advantage BHARAT: An Emerging Global Chemicals Hub”.

India Chem is the flagship event of the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Government of India, and is one of the largest composite events of the industry in the Asia-Pacific region, featuring both an Internal Exhibition and Conference.

The Indian Chemicals and Petrochemicals industry is the backbone of the Indian economy, playing a vital role in the growth of various key sectors like automotive, construction, electronics, healthcare, textiles, and FMCG. India is currently the 6th largest producer of chemicals in the world and the 4th largest in Asia. During FY 2025-26, exports of chemicals and petrochemicals stood at USD 46.12 billion, accounting for nearly 10.44% of India’s total merchandise exports.

Who is in?

It's holiday season and nothing beats a good afternoon in a museum! With this heat wave going on in the Netherlands, you will truly cool down at Drents Museum where the work of Amrita Sher-Gil is shown.

Amrita Sher-Gil - a Hungarian - Indian artist, only lived 28 years, but managed to make beautiful paintings. She is widely known and is regarded as one of the founders of modern Indian art.

She studied in Paris, where she mastered European modernism, but returned to India in 1934 convinced that her artistic destiny lay there. She famously declared:
"Europe belongs to Picasso, Matisse, Braque and many others. India belongs only to me."

This was not a rejection of European art—it was a bold statement that she intended to create a distinctly Indian modern art, inspired by Indian people, landscapes, and everyday life while informed by European techniques.

Why her work matters
Although she died at just 28 years old in Lahore in 1941, Sher-Gil transformed Indian painting forever. Rather than painting royalty or romanticized scenes, she focused on ordinary people—especially women, villagers, labourers, and families—with empathy, dignity, and emotional depth.

Her work combines:
* European Post-Impressionist influences learned in Paris.
Rich Indian colours inspired by Ajanta cave paintings and Mughal miniatures.
* A modern, deeply human perspective on identity, culture, and womanhood.
* Honest portrayals of loneliness, resilience, and everyday life.

Many historians consider her to be India's first truly modern painter, and her works are regarded as national treasures that rarely leave India.

Why this exhibition is so special
* The exhibition at the Drents Museum is historic because it is the first major exhibition of Amrita Sher-Gil ever held in the Netherlands. It presents paintings and drawings from the collection of India's National Gallery of Modern Art, allowing visitors to see masterpieces that almost never travel outside India. The exhibition traces her artistic journey from Paris to India and explores how she became a bridge between Eastern and Western artistic traditions.

Themes that resonate today
Sher-Gil's work still feels remarkably contemporary because it speaks about:

The State Government of Uttar Pradesh is organising the 4th Edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS), scheduled to be held from 25th to 29th September 2026 at the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida.

The State Government had already organised three editions of this event in 2023, 2024 and 2025 in Greater Noida. According to State Government, these events attracted over 5,00,000 attendees and resulted in a number of business deals.
