Waterking BV is market leader in Western Europe in the production of amphibious excavators and accessories. Waterking is a sister company of Knoop BV.

Waterking has a unique expertise in amphibious and specialised dredging equipment. Known for its one-of-a-kind amphibious excavators with ES-TRIN. While working at Knoop BV, founder Jakob Knoop saw an opportunity in the world of amphibious excavators and started developing it. In December 2006, the first Waterking was delivered for own use. and in 2010, the company Waterking B.V. was founded. The amphibious excavators have been sold to every part of the world. We are doing everything to always remain one step ahead. That’s why, to this day, we are continuing to develop even further. Waterking is known for the unique advantages of amphibious excavators; because of the low ground pressure, a Waterking can work in protected areas with sensitive surfaces. The boom can be extended from standard, to semi long and long reach. In the undercarriages, Hardox and Cor-Ten steel is used to extend the service life. In addition, heavy-duty travel motors are used. Finally, there is an option to have the amphibious excavators certified to ES-TRIN. Waterking is the only company in the world that can provide this and it is mandatory on European inland waterways. Besides amphibious excavators, Waterking has a wide range of specialised dredging equipment. This consists of various pontoons, power packs, dredging hoses, HDPE discharge lines, floats, booster stations, dredging pumps, hopper barges, workboats, split barges, generators, intermediate stations and water pumps. 𝗘𝗦-𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗡 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗻𝘀
In 2019, stricter rules were introduced regarding the certification of coupling pontoon assemblies under the ES-TRIN regulations. As there were still many old but serviceable coupled pontoons in use across Europe, a grace period was introduced; until 2028, you may continue to use the old coupled pontoons provided they have a valid hull certificate.

After 2028, this scheme will expire and all coupled pontoons in an assembly must comply with the new ES-TRIN requirements.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟭𝟳 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟬, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀.

Over the past months we’ve had the privilege of working on inspiring projects, building new partnerships and delivering equipment all over the world. We’d like to thank everyone who has been part of that journey.

Now it’s time for our team to enjoy some well-deserved time with family, friends and hopefully plenty of sunshine 🌊🌞

Innovation doesn’t only come from experienced engineers. Sometimes it comes from a student with a fresh perspective, a challenging assignment, and the freedom to turn an idea into something tangible.

Over the past months, Bram Roorda and Wessel Smeenge have been working alongside our team on two graduation projects that perfectly reflect what Waterking is all about, solving practical challenges through engineering.

Bram took on the challenge of designing a universal intermediate frame for our amphibious undercarriages. The goal was to create a solution that could be applied across multiple machine configurations, requiring detailed 3D modelling, technical drawings, structural calculations and plenty of problem-solving along the way.

Meanwhile, Wessel tackled a challenge with an international impact. He designed a modular barge concept aimed at reducing transport costs while increasing flexibility for our customers. By rethinking the traditional design, he explored how a barge could be transported inside standard shipping containers and expanded into larger capacities when required. Through calculations, concept development and even 3D-printed prototypes, his ideas gradually came to life.

Both students became part of the team, worked closely with our engineers and workshop staff, and were trusted with real challenges that matter to our business. We are incredibly proud of their progress!

The best ideas often start with curiosity, and both Bram and Wessel brought plenty of that 🙌

𝗠𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗻ⵑ

In 2025, UW-TECH AB approached Waterking for the supply of 18 NATO pontoons, complemented by hydraulic spud pole systems, coupling equipment, certified lifting chains and several custom-made 12-metre spud poles developed specifically for their project requirements.

A year later, they came back.

After gaining hands-on experience with the equipment in the field, UW-TECH decided to further expand their fleet. This year, we delivered another 42 NATO pontoons, together with additional hydraulic spud pole systems and supporting equipment matching their existing setup.

For us, this is what a successful collaboration looks like. Not just delivering equipment, but providing a solution that performs well enough for a customer to return when it's time to grow. Seeing a client expand their fleet with the same trusted configuration is a strong indication that the equipment is doing exactly what it was designed to do.

We would like to thank UW-TECH for their continued trust in Waterking. We look forward to supporting their projects for many years to come.

These 15 m³ barges are built for durability and efficiency, featuring a Hardox inner lining to withstand demanding conditions. What makes them especially practical is the addition of lifting points on the underside, allowing the barge to be easily tilted for cleaning and storage.
