"I strongly believe in the power of collaboration and collectivism. Companies need to start thinking as allies and not as competitors. I feel “pointing fingers” has led nowhere in terms of progress. We need as consumers to collectively move towards education, awareness, and collaboration. We are undoubtedly stronger together and everyone can benefit from collective actions. As business owners, we need to be mindful of our environmental impact and the standards we promote and work with."

Q: Why are carpets made in Morocco and not locally here in Amsterdam?

A: "We would wish for us to be as good at handling textiles as are the women in M'hamid El Ghizlane, but we still don’t wish that because there is magic in respecting every culture’s unique traditions.

“The weavers of the carpets live in the oasis of M'hamid El Ghizlane, in the south of Morocco, which has ten different villages. They pass on the craft of carpet knotting from mother to daughter. Carpet of Life preserves the traditions and crafts from this region and innovation takes place through new, inspiring international collaborations. With each carpet, the weavers use their creativity and make a connection with the rest of the world.”

“I remember my mother doing embroidery on her mother’s tablecloth, embroidering her initials. Now this tablecloth, for me, means the world; its texture reminds me of my mother’s hands and this simple piece of fabric reminds me of my childhood. I can’t give that away - nobody understands its value like me. But I hate having it stored away- nevertheless what’s the point.”

At Carpet of Life, we make sure your beloved textiles never have to be wasted. Instead, we offer a sustainable alternative for you to keep those textiles in the form of a beautifully designed carpet. From wall-hanging carpets to regular bigger-sized carpets, they are all handmade while supporting the wonderful community of women weavers in M'hamid El Ghizlane.

Raincoat, glitter fabric, baby clothes, plastic, synthetic, wool, jeans, reflective material, anything you may have in your closet. The only significant materials that without them we cannot guarantee the successful creation of a carpet is passion, patience, and pride. Climate change protester disrupts Louis Vuitton show in Paris

On the 5th of October in Paris, the activist representative of Amis de la Terre France, Youth for Climate and Extinction Rebellion, walked on the runaway among models during the Luis Vuitton fashion show, demonstrating. Written on her banner are the words: “overconsumption=distinction”.
One word: Powerful. Without even speaking, she shouts directly against one of the biggest companies in terms of textile production and manufacture. Reminding all the attendees and the world of the negative side of the fashion industry. The one that is based on the wrong ideals; ideals that are, literally, killing us.

You put on your walls proofs of accomplishments, a degree, a picture of a loved one, an artwork. You express yourself through the pieces you choose to hang on your walls, at the level of our eyes; they represent you.

You put on your wall, the wall-hanging carpet of life, that represents that you believe in something that matters, that you choose to say aware, take action and you do so by keeping the memories of your textiles alive; and this represents you.

Now that social media has recovered from yesterday’s outage... 👇

Happy International Animal Day!
Here is how we can all celebrate animals EVERYDAY; and celebrate not only the animals living within your house, but also the animals living within our planet.

Let’s celebrate today, not only our dear pet companions but also the animals outside our homes. Let’s be grateful for living on this earth with them, for learning great lessons from them- such as forgiveness, gratefulness, unconditional loyalty, and companionship to name just the very few. Let us all appreciate the uniqueness of every species, their wonderful characteristics, let's celebrate their lives and existence. Let's remember, the animals that love and accompany us, without ever judging, unconditionally. But further, than that, let’s for a moment bow from respect to the animals that set their boundaries away from us, that dedicate their lives protecting their pack, protecting their environment; the ones that are free and the ones living in captivity. We are lucky to leave on this planet with them, all of them.
The least we can do is take care of their planet, our planet. They know how to protect their precious environment better than anyone; let's for once again, learn from their example.

🔵🔵🔵🔴🔵 #okonasztukę DYWAN ŻYCIA Czy to możliwe? Carpet of Life to holenderska organizacja, która pomaga stworzyć jedyne w swoim rodzaju... dywany. W kulturze rosyjskiej, Mokosz(a) to matka ziemi wilgotnej, matka urodzaju. A jeśli chcecie wiedzieć więcej, zachęcam Was do sięgniecia po barwne mity w interpretacji Witolda Jabłońskiego. ⬇⬇⬇⬇ https://okonakulture.pl/2020/12/13/6047,dary-bogow-witolda-jablonskiego/ Obraz: Mokosz by svetlaya777 (https://www.deviantart.com/svetlaya777/art/Makosh-444892241)
Dus we gingen in gesprek.
We asked the participants what their best memory/memories were of Xposed Xchange 2019. Marina (1/2) This is the story of Marina van Dieren who works as a freelance fashion & print designer and as project manager at the fair design brand Carpet of Life. Marina initially joined the program helping out with the catering which she also likes doing. “I didn't plan to join Xposed as a participant. But from the first moment, there was a chemistry between Mesuli, Vvyque and me. No wonder they pulled me in to join the performance we were supposed to do on the 2nd day. I'm no dancer, and I didn’t want to dance, but the two guys convinced me that we already had a story between the 3 of us, that we could perform, even without dancing. It was the story of a connection between 3 countries, communicating in movement, not words, resulting in friendship, love and also loneliness. The performance turned out super fun, and definately pulled me out of my comfort zone." The pictures were taken by Iso Caba during rehearsals at the beautiful studio of the community center in Het Wilde Westen.
