Meet the jury for Håndverksbiennalen 2026
These are people with expertise, strong perspectives, and a genuine passion for craftsmanship. Together, they represent tradition, quality, and new perspectives within Norwegian handcraft.
Lillian Ayla Ersoy is the founder and director of NOVOOI, a curated platform and retailor for Norwegian design, interior and craft. She has more than 20 years of experience in branding, design, and product development, and is passionate about supporting a diverse community of makers through NOVOOI’s platform and showroom. .no
Marianne Bain is a furniture maker based in Oslo. She creates high quality wooden furniture with a focus on longevity, repairability, and responsibly sourced materials. She took part in the international craft programme Homo Faber in 2024-25.
Brita Rusten Åmot is a ceramic artist with more than 40 years of experience in design, arts and crafts, teaching, and communication. Alongside running her own workshop, she has worked extensively in education and as a craft consultant for the Norwegian Folk Art and Craft Association. She has also served in a number of jury and grant selection processes.
Gry Grindbakken is a goldsmith and master filigree silversmith with both journeyman’s and master’s certificates. From her workshop and gallery in Stathelle, Telemark, she creates handmade silver for the traditional Norwegian bunad. Her work is rooted in craftsmanship and tradition, while also embracing the playful and innovative qualities of folk art.
Terje Lia is a costume enthusiast from East Telemark with a particular interest in how traditional dress looked and functioned in everyday life. He works with historical textile techniques and sews garments from his home region. He also serves on the board of the Norwegian Folk Art and Craft Association.
