From sunset starts in Oslo to morning finishes in Moss, hundreds of crews spent the weekend racing in another edition of Færderseilasen.

The overnight course through the Oslofjord tested sailors with changing conditions, rain and shifting winds before the fleet crossed the finish line on Saturday morning.

Norway’s largest regatta once again brought together a diverse fleet, from fully crewed race boats and double-handed teams to family crews and classic yachts.

First held in 1947, Færderseilasen remains one of Scandinavian sailing’s defining events, connecting generations of sailors through a course that continues to challenge and inspire.

312 days later, he returned having achieved one of the greatest feats in sailing history.

For 63 years, pioneers have shaped Henri-Lloyd. Sir Francis Chichester was the first.

In 1966, he set sail from England aboard Gipsy Moth IV to attempt what few believed possible: a solo circumnavigation of the globe by the clipper route.

226 days. 29,000 miles. Alone.

He battled the Southern Ocean, survived a capsize, and endured conditions that would have ended most voyages. When he returned, he had made history.

Seven world records followed.

Asked why he did it, Chichester’s answer was simple:

“Because it intensifies life.”

Pioneers don’t follow routes. They chart them.

Forty years ago, Stars & Stripes was preparing to challenge for the America’s Cup. Just four years after the United States lost sailing’s oldest trophy for the first time in 132 years, Dennis Conner and his crew set out to win it back.

Their success in 1987 would become one of the sport’s great comeback stories, reclaiming the America’s Cup and helping shape a new era of competitive sailing.

Britain’s coastline rarely offers the same conditions twice.
 
Flat water. Strong tides. Squalls. Sunshine. Thirty-knot winds. Long periods of waiting. Short windows of opportunity.
 
At nineteen, Nestor Montagu is learning that first-hand as he sails around the entirety of Britain outside of the Caledonian Canal. Since leaving Milford Haven, each leg has presented a different challenge. Each weather system a new decision.
