My fungi of New Zealand sculptures now for all to see, part of a joint exhibition at the incredible Cube Gallery, London. My work focuses on a realistic form of interpretation by experimenting with masses of tiny stitches of thread, using special moulding techniques, crochet, hand stitching and lots of patience. Each focussing on fungi, lichen, bark and moss found within New Zealand.
Now exhibiting at the exhibition:
No more Winter, Cube Gallery.
On until may 23rd.

A new series I’m currently having fun exploring, the textures of Vogels bread & Molenburg bread varieties. Recently I’ve had a number of clients reach out to commission artworks, and bread was one of them!
Each sculpture was stitched by hand, mainly crochet and moulding, to give the illusion of its real life version. I love the end result!😍

Loving this new experimentation with vegetable and bits & pieces from the kitchen as inspiration. As anyone who knows me, gardening is a huge part of my life & while digging up my garden I came across some ultra curly & weird shaped rainbow carrots I planted early summer. I loved the strangeness of them so imperfect, but perfect for inspiration.

Yes it’s yuck & raining, fire is lit! 🔥 but it’s that time of year that I like to knuckle down and really get some serious amount of sewing work accomplished before my next exhibition. This new series of mine I’m re-creating New Zealand’s ascidians (sea squirts), red seaweeds, sea anemones, and shells 🐚 I’ve also learnt the process of pressing fresh seaweeds from all over New Zealand, then they dry after a few months into gorgeous pieces that keep their true colours so I can re-create them into artworks.

Nz Rewarewa leaves, and Graceful parasol fungi are two sculptures that were incredibly fun to create, each with their own characteristics that form a realistic interpretation of the real life subjects I find throughout New Zealand’s forests. Before I recreate the piece, I do a series of macro photographs, detailed sketches, and search the correct colours of thread that will be created in many layers. There’s a lot of thought that goes into the process, time and patience. I have many years spent as a dressmaker and am luckily gifted with a tonne of patience.
Thank you to for my representation, I’m so honoured and so lucky to have international recognition of my work.

Nz Rewarewa leaves - sold.
Graceful Parasol fungi - sold.

Absolutely blown away by the win at Wellington art show, for my Queen Anne’s lace 3d thread sculpture. An overwhelming busy weekend in the heart of Wellington, where I met so many lovely people from many different countries. Thank you to those who now own a special artwork of mine. X
