We often get asked the difference between Goose and Duck down and feathers for Ringsted Dun Breeze 3 chamber pillows.
Softness & Loft
• Goose down generally has larger, softer clusters, giving pillows a higher loft and a more “billowy” feel.
• Duck down/feather clusters are smaller, resulting in a pillow that feels a little firmer and slightly less lofty.
Fill Power
• Goose down typically achieves higher fill power (loft and quality) — common in luxury pillows.
• Duck down usually has medium fill power, still excellent for comfort but not as lofty.
Feel & Support
• Goose gives a more cloud-like, luxurious sink-in feel.
• Duck gives a plumper, slightly firmer feel with more support — often preferred by people wanting structure.
Availability
• Duck down and feathers are more widely available globally, so they’re often used in mid-range to premium bedding. For hospitality we are using Muscovy Duck which has the same attributes as Goose without the price.
• High-grade goose down is used mostly in premium to luxury pillows.
