50 for 50 – Birth Trauma Awareness Week 🤍

One in three women in Aotearoa experience birth trauma. It can look different for every family, and not all trauma is visible.

Because of our own birth and NICU journeys, we wanted our 50 for 50 challenge to reach the families currently walking through the doors of Wellington NICU. While not every traumatic birth leads to NICU, for many families the two are deeply connected. And while babies eventually leave hospital, the emotional impact of those early days often stays with parents long after they’ve gone home.

Two years on, we’re both still healing from parts of our own birth trauma. That’s why this week matters to us.

Our little NICU graduates, Esmee and Violet, created these 50 little handprints to be displayed in Wellington NICU, where they each received lifesaving care. Today, they’re two years old and thriving.

We hope they become a gentle reminder that you are not alone, that there is hope, and that every day your little miracle grows stronger 🤍

Thank you, Birth Trauma Aotearoa for creating the 50 for 50 initiative and helping bring birth trauma into the conversation

🤍 50 for 50 – Birth Trauma Awareness Week 🤍

Around 50 families experience emotional birth trauma every day in Aotearoa. This week, people around the country are taking on their own “50” to help raise awareness.

Our little NICU graduates who are now 2 and full of energy Esmee and Violet have been busy creating 50 handprints for a keepsake display at Wellington NICU.

We hope their handprints become a reminder to families currently on their NICU journey that they are not alone, and that every day their little miracle grows stronger. 🤍

Over the past 4 months we’ve poured our hearts into fundraising for Little Miracles Trust 🤍

Through our community raffle, silent auction, and The Miracle Market, we’ve been blown away by the support from our Blenheim community.

Together, we raised $8,824 ✨

supports families with premature and critically unwell babies in NICU — providing practical support, care packages, equipment funding, and backing neonatal research across New Zealand.

Thank you to every single person who bought a ticket, donated a prize, placed a bid, ran a stall, shared a post, or simply showed up to the market. This community is something special 🤍

And this is just the beginning. This was our first round of fundraising, and we’d love to make The Miracle Market — in whatever form that takes — an annual event. Keep your eyes peeled for what we do next ✨

Our 3rd and last thank you to our behind the scene Legends 🌭

💛 & Mike from – for generously donating all the meat for our gourmet hot dogs. The real MVPs of flavour.

💛 gina & Jimmy from – for donating the eggs for our Kiwi hotdogs and helping us keep it properly local.

💛 Bidfood – for helping us keep the hotdog dream alive by jumping in to sponsor us with our big food order for the day!

💛 Tia Lu – Esmees ‘token Argentinian’ Aunty who makes the BEST chimichurri! You know it’s a big hit when the compliments flow in from other South Americans!

And last of all our biggest thank you 🤍

To and our partners in every sense of the word. Thank you for taking on the extra jobs at home, nodding along to our late-night planning chats, backing every wild idea, and supporting this market even when life already felt full to the brim. Thank you for being the most incredible dads to Violet and Esmee through it all steady, patient, hands-on and always showing up. You stepped up without hesitation. This event might have had our names on it, but it only worked because of you.

And at the centre of it all 💜 Esmee and Violet. Our brave, hard-working little fighters who did the real hard work right from the beginning. They fought to be here. We’re just here to support them, cheer them on, and do whatever we can in their corner. Everything we do is for them 🤍

We are so grateful for our village 💛 and you made it to the end of our thank you list.

thank you 💜continued
💛 .clothing.carousel – for the advice, a little social media support, and for loaning clothing racks and donating some pieces to help us get the donation station off the ground.

💛 – for loaning tables for our raffle stand and saving us from putting everything on the floor (which honestly felt like a real possibility at one point).

💛 & Elena Metcalf – for jumping in and helping set up on the day, hanging clothes, gold star sticking, and for loaning us a marquee when we needed it. Bestie energy at its finest — just showing up and getting it done.

💛 The MySpace youth centre – for being so accommodating at short notice, happily saying “yes” to being our wet weather backup and loaning us the BBQ. Absolute lifesavers.

💛 – for the marquee that kept us cool, covered and slightly more organised than we probably looked.

💛 The Sun Newspaper – for sharing our story and helping spread the word far and wide across Marlborough.

💛 Greg & Anna from cash is king – for lighting up the three big screens in town with Miracle Market goodness. Nothing like seeing your event 10 feet tall while you’re mildly panicking inside.

💛 – for sorting us a card machine so we could run our stalls smoothly (making for no excuse not to get a hotdog!! 😜)

💛 To all our friends and family – who donated clothing, listened to us stress, answered late night voice notes, offered support, encouragement and ideas… and never once said “maybe don’t do this.” Your quiet support behind the scenes meant more than you know.

💛 And to anyone we may have forgotten and all the families who came and spoke about personal experiences please know we are so grateful for you too. Tired mums club will always forget someone, but our appreciation is very real 🤍

Again great work getting this far - post 2 of 3
