I asked Chat GPT if my prices were too high or too low....
Well, fellow small handmade business owners/creatives, this might be something good for you to do, too, particularly as the likes of T3mu have distorted the public perception of what things should be sold for.
I know so many of us don't pay ourselves and/or want to keep our prices "affordable for our customers", but are we doing ourselves, and other small businesses, a disservice in doing so?

Most of my fabrics now cost AT LEAST 2x what they used to.
Shipping from many of my suppliers was previously free, now it is often over 2.5x the cost of the materials themselves.
The MOQ of many supplies has also increased, yet sales are a very small fraction of what they used to be; people want me to make new items, but I can't if I'm not selling enough of what I do have.
I can't think of one market I attend that hasn't increased their stall fees, yet sales are down year on year at most events, and it costs more to attend each due to fuel and RUC cost increases, as well as accommodation and parking.
Almost all other overheads have increased, but my pricing has not gone up enough to align with these higher costs.
So, tell me, especially those of you who have called ME disgusting for pricing my items as I do, and have called my prices DISGUSTING, are they too high?
Do you want to continue to see small, NZ handmade businesses, like mine in the future?
