Sorry no castings this week, I’m in Palmerston North for the NZ Embroidery conference.
Last night was awards night and two of my three pieces entered. ‘My Identity’ ( gold lady, which I designed about all the things that identity me). Charcuterie board, ( which is just the posh word for a cheese board, something that is our family tradition), and ‘UP’ from the Pixar movie, which is the most beautiful story of love, grief, discovery & friendship.
I have been crafting since a young child and selling. I meet many of my clients around Central Otago at markets, marketing Momentoes for future business, and selling my own crafts alongside under Starlightcraft. I have always had a fascination with stitching, I made dolls clothes for my Daisy dolls as a child (wow that’s a through-back, who else had daisy dolls)?
I started attending Wanaka embroidery school and that’s where embroidery captured my heart. I create everyday to sell, but embroidery is purely for my enjoyment. I joined the Central Otago Embroidery Guild three years ago and haven’t looked back. I entered a piece in the Dunedin conference two years ago, and it got second in the members section. Now that I have two firsts, I can now only compete in the Open sections, which means competing with the big guns….. tutors and embroiderers that have been embroidering for a lot longer than me, and I mean by decades for many. I love the challenge of coming up with an idea, and then problem solving how am I going to achieve it.
So, I thought I’d share a little about me to all my lovely followers.
