Plot twist… it’s probably my least favourite part. 😂
I’m not really a “look at me” person. I don’t particularly love being in front of the camera, putting myself out there or knowing that thousands of people might be watching me on their phone actually gives my heart palpitations.
And actually, I think that’s part of the reason I understand so many of my brides. Because not every bride dreams about being the centre of attention.
Not every woman walks into a bridal store feeling incredibly confident about her body.
And not everyone feels completely comfortable with the idea of a whole room or wedding looking at them.
Sometimes there’s a lot of vulnerability wrapped up in finding a wedding dress. That’s the part of my job I love.
It’s the moment when the curtain is pulled & she turns towards the mirror… something changes.
She stands a little differently.
She looks again.
Maybe she runs her hands over her waist or looks at herself from the side because she genuinely can’t quite believe what she’s seeing.
And so often I hear some version of:
“I didn’t know I could look like this.”
Gets me EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Because I’m not trying to turn women into somebody else. I’m not trying to hide their bodies, shrink them, disguise them or squeeze them into whatever bridal fashion says they should wear.
My job is to understand shape. To notice the little details. To know which cut, neckline, structure or fabric is going to work with the woman standing in front of me.
And then I get to watch her see what I could already see.
A beautiful bride. Sometimes for the very first time.
That moment will beat trying on a pretty dress myself every single day of the week. That’s why I love what I do & that is my favourite part. 🤍
