✨ Why do beaded wedding dresses cost more to alter?

We can’t sew through beads, so any beads in the path of the needle need to be carefully removed before the alteration can begin. Once the sewing is complete, each bead needs to be hand-stitched back into place.

This sleeve alone had over 100 beads removed — and that’s before adding the time it takes to sew every single one back on by hand.

It’s a small detail that makes a big difference to the time involved in your alterations.

💡 Wedding dress shopping tip: If you’re working to a budget, choosing a gown with less beading can be one way to keep alteration costs down.

A lower back, a more elongated silhouette, and a neckline that sits just as it should. 🤍

Lowering the back of this fitted gown created a beautiful, more open silhouette, but the change needed to be considered beyond what you see from behind.

We discussed how lowering the back would reduce the support through the front of the gown, making sure the new shape worked with the fit as a whole.

The back neckline also needed careful reshaping to eliminate gaping and ease the excess fabric in so it sat flat against the body.

Beautiful alterations aren’t just about how a gown looks from one angle. It’s how everything works together with the body.

Shay had her all tuned up and shipped down so quickly, and she’s been hard at work for the past week already!
