Babies thrive on predictability.

Whenever possible, try to have naps in the same sleep space. Whether it’s their cot, bassinet or another consistent place, familiar surroundings become a cue that says, “This is where I sleep.”

This doesn’t mean you can never nap on the go… life happens! Contact naps, pram naps and car naps all have their place. But when you’re at home, offering naps in the same environment can help strengthen positive sleep associations over time.

Remember, healthy sleep isn’t built by one perfect day. It’s built through small, consistent habits that gently add up.

“Did I do something wrong?”

If you’ve ever asked yourself this because your baby isn’t sleeping… this reel is for you.

Some babies seem to learn to sleep with very little support. Others need a little more time, guidance, and practice.

Just like learning to ride a bike, every baby learns at their own pace.

The good news? We know so much more about baby sleep than we used to. Sleep science helps us understand how babies sleep and how we can gently support them as they learn… without blame, guilt, or pressure.

✨ You’re not failing.
✨ Your baby isn’t broken.
✨ Sometimes they just need a little help learning.

Follow along for evidence-based sleep tips that work with your baby’s development, not against it.

We often focus on bedtime… but great sleep actually starts in the morning. ☀️

Today’s Calm 1%: Wake at the same time each day.

It doesn’t have to be to the exact minute, but aiming for a consistent wake-up time helps set your baby’s internal body clock (their circadian rhythm).

Think of it like pressing “start” on their sleep timer for the day.

When that timer runs consistently:
🌿 Naps often become more predictable.
🌿 Bedtime can feel less like a battle.
🌿 Your baby’s body starts to know when it’s time to be awake and when it’s time to sleep.

And yes… this works for adults too! (I’ll be talking more about that soon. 😉)

If you’ve had a rough night, it’s tempting to let everyone sleep in. Sometimes that’s exactly what’s needed, and there are always exceptions. But on most days, keeping mornings reasonably consistent is one of the simplest habits that supports better sleep over time.

Tiny change. Big impact. 💙

Have you noticed your baby sleeps better when mornings stay consistent? Or, you actually feel better when you get up around the same time each day? I’d love to hear your experience.

Off topic… but did you know?
When your ducks scoff acorns fallen from your neighbours Oak tree… you get olive green yolks! Yeah me neither. Turns out it’s the Tanins in the acorns. Google says they are fine to eat but I can’t bring myself to! Would you?

Introducing: The Calm 1% Series.

As parents, it’s easy to feel like we need to change everything to improve sleep. Or we need to make big changes.
But what if we don’t?

The Calm 1% series is built on one simple idea: small, consistent changes can lead to big results over time.
Right now, focus on one tiny change. Repeat it consistently. Over time, those tiny habits become healthy routines, and healthy routines can support calmer days, better sleep and more confident parenting.

A few times a week I’ll be sharing simple tips, quick to read and easy to try.
No overwhelm.
No unrealistic promises.
Just one small step at a time.

Because sometimes, 1% is all it takes to start moving in the right direction.

Welcome to The Calm 1% Series.

Missing these signs may be the only reason you are having sleep issues.
I’d love to hear what your child does to let you know its sleep time.
And what does missing the boat look like in your house?
I had two rascal sleepers (I seriously could’ve used my training then!) and one who would put herself to bed, or just sleep wherever she was! (She was challenging in other ways! 😆)
