WHEN SHOULD I START WEDDING GOWN SHOPPING?

Most brides (not all) are aware that wedding gowns must be purchased far in advance. By timing your purchase right, you can avoid rush fees and dress disappointment!

Generally, we suggest making your bridal gown appointments 10-12 months before your wedding date. This date is suggested with the goal of picking out and ordering a gown 8-9 months before your wedding. This gives you plenty of time to shop around and find the dress of your dreams. It also ensures that you avoid rush fees and gives your chosen store the time necessary to order you a brand new gown only you have worn. Donโ€™t forget that each gown is made to order, so longer wait times are inevitable.
Finally, this timeline allows for alterations after the dress has arrived. There will most likely be slight alterations done to make it fit like a dream, and thatโ€™s something brides must plan for.

Although it may be VERY tempting during longer engagements, we suggest avoiding dress shopping before 13 months out. Starting your wedding gown journey too early can result in gown regret later on. Brides who start before the 13-month mark often find themselves comparing their gown to newer gowns as more collections are brought out. Additionally, the further out your wedding is, the less you have planned! Ensuring that you have the wedding "theme" and location chosen before you pick your gown as this can help make sure that it is perfect for your venue etc.

But......., if you wait until your wedding is less than 8 months out to start looking, you are risking having to pay rush fees to ensure that your gown arrives in time.
Not all brides find their gown right away, so leaving time to shop around is very important.
When choosing a bridal gown appointment date, itโ€™s safe to assume that most gowns will take at least 5-6 months to arrive in store, maybe longer. If you donโ€™t start shopping until 8 months out, youโ€™re leaving yourself a dangerously short window to pick out, order, and alter a gown, that's not to say it can't be done, it just adds alot more stress and risk, something no bride needs!

Think it's time to make an appointment?

Hey ladies!!

Long time, no post!! ๐Ÿ™Š๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

(Update - to every person who has sent a PM, commented on this post or just reacted, thank you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ I just want to say how genuinely grateful I am for all the positive feedback and kind, encouraging words. It really means a lot to me and I donโ€™t take any of it for granted. Thank you again for all the supportโ€”it is so appreciated ๐Ÿ’›)

I'm going to be honest here & let you all in on a bit of a SECRET, that will now not be so secret......
I was seriously considering CLOSING Love Me Do ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

At the end of last year I think I just lost my mojo for people & the bridal industry & it got really hard.
I had to sit down & have a good think.
When I first started out I remember my wonderful mentor Sarah (she once owned Forever After Bridal) saying, "What's your WHY?" WHY do you want to do this?........ So here's my WHY.......

As y'all can probably tell, I don't enjoy social media & posting etc. My main priority here at Love Me Do Bridal has always been the people.

All you gorgeous brides that walk through the doors & your lovely entourage. That is where I want to put my love, time & energy.

I love hearing your stories of where you met & how you fell in love with your significant other how he proposed, whether you have children & how excited they are for this special day to happen. I also love the, "This is my best friend, we met at Pony Club cos her horse bit my arm". "This is my Mum, but like an adopted Mum cos my Mum lives in England"

There's also those brides that want to come alone & do it themselves because not everyone wants an opinion on their choice of dress (So yes, it's very normal to come alone for those asking)

I could continue you for hours on all the things I enjoy. Yes I love the gowns & how beautiful they are. But they would be nothing without you ladies. I feel so so fortunate that with each bride that walks through the door I get to experience their joy, excitement, love & happy tears. But there's also fear & anxiety mixed in with this I would say 90% of the time because as most know, we are a store for curvy bodies. I'm the lucky one that gets to say, don't stress gal, there will be plenty here that fits & I get to see the relief & down right joy when gowns fit bodies beautifully.

So here's my WHY!! I've found it again!!!!
Yes, there are crappy stressful times, but that's comes with anything you may do. We have to take the good with the bad.

So if you've read until the end I'll just let you know, I'm not promising to post more, because I really don't enjoy it. Yes I know it generates business. But so does word of mouth after treating all these wonderful brides with love, compassion, respect & fun!!
Thank you to every prior or future bride for allowing me to share this special time with you, I appreciate you all so much.

And because I've remembered you are all my WHY, Love Me Do Bridal is full steam ahead ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ
