This Yellow Korowai is a stunning representation of the vibrant Kowhai Tree, known for its bright golden flowers that bloom each spring. The cloak's radiant yellow tones symbolise the blossoming of new life, vitality, and strength, much like the kowhai tree that stands tall in the natural world. The colours are inspired by the graceful flow of the kowhai’s branches and blossoms, reflecting a deep connection to the earth and the ever-present cycles of nature. The korowai not only embodies the beauty of the kowhai tree but also carries with it cultural significance. In Māori tradition, the kowhai is revered for its strength, resilience and life-giving energy. This Yellow Korowai serves as a reminder of the wearer’s connection to the land, nature’s abundance, and the spiritual forces that shape life. Measurements: 115cm x 115cm. Handmade to order, ready in 10-14 business days

He Taonga Tuku Iho ✨

Wearing taonga made with intention, mana and aroha 💫
So grateful to have my sister model these pieces for me. There’s something special about seeing your own whānau wear what you create 🖤
Each korowai carries its own story, inspired by Te Ao Māori, whakapapa and connection.
Ngā mihi

He Korowai o Te Ao Tūroa 🤎🤍

This korowai kākahu blends warm rust and soft white tones, reflecting the balance of te ao tūroa ‘the natural’ world around us.
The rich brown feathers speak to the whenua, grounding the pieces in strength, stability and connection to the land. They carry a sense of warmth, growth, and the everyday richness of life.
The white feathers bring in harmony and calm, representing balance, peace and the natural flow of the environment.
The Pātiki tāniko band runs through the design, symbolising prosperity, abundance and favourable times. It acknowledges the idea of being well-provided for, both physically and spiritually and the importance of living in tune with the resources of the natural world.
Altogether, this kākahu reflects a sense of balance, between land and life, strength and calm, grounded in Aotearoa and shaped by the rhythms of nature.
