sories and other products designed to reflect our relaxed coastal lifestyle. Kaleo’s prints are limited editions with styles changing seasonally. Kaleo’s owner, Christine Makaweo, who originally hails from the Hawaii, has come to appreciate the similarities in the cultures and lifestyles between her former and current homes. “I wanted to bring some of the colourful and relaxed styles that I loved there, to Aotearoa, but with New Zealand designs and styles tailored for our way of living here. One of our signature products is our Kaleo Classic Mens Shirt- a tasteful version of the classic Hawaiian shirt.. Kaleo — a Hawaiian word — means “to express”. Makaweo explains, “Our name reflects our mission, which is to make clothing that is not only visually expressive, but also reflects the things we love and way we live in coastal Northland – A local brand of apparel that is as relaxed as the place it comes from.” Kaleo’s products include clothing for both men and women, screen printed line of tees and hoodies, accessories and other unique local gift options.
