Is your baby warm enough for sleep this winter? ❄️👶

One of the most common questions I get from parents is: "How many layers should my baby wear to bed?"

While it's natural to worry about little ones getting cold, it's equally important not to overcompensate. Overheating is a known risk factor for SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and can also make sleep more restless.

This infographic is based on guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and provides a helpful starting point for dressing your baby (aged 3-months plus) according to their room temperature.

Remember:
💜 Aim for a room temperature of around 16 to 20°C where possible
💜 Use breathable natural fibres such as cotton, merino, bamboo, or wool
💜 Check your baby's temperature by feeling the back of their neck or chest, not their hands or feet
💜 Every baby is different. Some naturally run warmer than others

The goal isn't to keep your baby as warm as possible. The goal is to keep them comfortably warm without overheating so they can sleep safely and soundly.
