Visited the United Nations cemetery in Korea, found our Black Hat brother in amongst cordite friends.
Anyone know more about CPL Cooks deployment?

Corporal Gordon Brian Cook, of the Royal New Zealand Armoured Corps, who was serving with the 5th Dragoon Guards, has died from wounds received in Korea. His mother is Mrs E.M. Cook, of Hastings.Corporal Cook was one of 55 regular soldiers at present serving in Korea. He was serving with the 5th Dragoon Guards, which is equipped with Centurion tanks. For those if you who have not heard, the RAAC have just been authorised to wear Black Berets again. Lucky bastards. For those of us in "key positions" if it's good enough for Aussies and NZSAS, surely it's good enough for a army a 4th the size. ( the berets have to be purchased with non-unit funds by the way). who would be keen to buy their own beret if it meant they could wear one again?

Hey everyone just a heads up as many have inquired about Cambrai 12. This year with the re-establishment of QAMR as a Reqt, the unit focus is to promote only QAMR Bday. This has meant a shift to CBT SCH Mounted Ops Wing (Sch of Armd) to be principal organiser. I have asked for a heads up to be posted on here. Also few may know that 1 NZ Bde has planned its bde Ex over the cambrai pd with majority of QAMR returning on that weekend.
but as ever we will turn out those that we can to make it a black hatter occasion.
