August, straight from my camera roll & notes 💕

A very full month - a stack of birthdays, all the school things, a little escape and unfortunately ending with everyone getting sick... 😅

SO. MANY. BIRTHDAYS. 🎂 My MIL, both my boys - 17 & 14 this year - plus a handful of friends. August = cake season and of course J’AIME, our wee family tradition.
ALL THE SCHOOL THINGS 🎒 Cross country, speeches, last minute book week costumes... 😅
SELLING MY ENTIRE WARDROBE 👗 Still loving Designer Wardrobe. My rule is I can only spend what I’ve earned selling - which has made me much more ruthless about what stays! 😂
MINI VACAY ✨ Snuck away to Auckland with a Mum pal for 24 hours of spa, sauna, breakfast buffet, shopping + people watching. Bliss.
BINGE WATCHING 📺 Colin From Accounts S3 😂 Handmaid’s fans - has anyone watched The Testaments? I’m not sure I’m emotionally ready...
EATING ON REPEAT 🌯 The viral McChicken wraps. SO GOOD.
AND AT LITTLE & LOVED... New CONNETIX has started landing 🌈 and we brought back the old-school classic Waterfuls - proof kids these days can be as cool as we were! 😂
That’s my August. Chaotic, fun + plenty of cake. 💕

Sunday meal prep ✔️
A few hours of prep today, makes the week a whole lot easier!
Breakfasts, quick lunches, kids’ lunchbox bits, roast chicken, fresh bread… and a surprise brisket that required Ben’s undivided attention for the entire day! 😂
The bumper bars are the Vanya Insull recipe - I doubled the batch, halved the sugar and swapped the sunflower seeds for slivered almonds, I’ve made these three times now, everyone loves them!

If there’s one thing we love in our house, it’s a good family game - especially one that everyone actually wants to play! 😂

So I’ve rounded up 5 of our absolute favourites. Tried, tested and genuinely played on repeat in our house:

Five Crowns - easy to learn, ridiculously addictive and ALWAYS ends in “one more round”.

Slapzi - fast, funny and just the right amount of chaotic. The adults get far too competitive with this one.

Monster Mash - brilliant for younger players, super quick to learn and lots of laughs.

4 to Win - simple strategy, quick rounds and plenty of rematches. No 20-minute rules explanation!

Up & Down the River - an old-school card game and a firm favourite in our house. All you need is a good deck of cards and you’re sorted.

And because apparently I couldn’t stop at five… I’ve added a few more favourites at the end too 👀

Consider this my return to social media… 😅
Time to flip the mindset and share a handful of things that have been bringing me joy lately…

1. Winter sunrises - breathtaking, so you forget how cold it is?!
2. Alice & Steve
Ben and I watched this mini-series over two nights and absolutely loved it = LOL! What’s next?
3. Free Power Sundays
Hardly glamorous... but wow, switching to Electric Kiwi has been a game changer! Sunday has become my dedicated washing, drying (oh what a treat! 😆), meal prepping and deep cleaning day. Our power bill is down more than 30% compared to our previous supplier. I genuinely love checking the app to track our usage!
4. Family time
My eldest turns 17 next month (how?! 😭), so I’m soaking up every little moment he still wants to spend with us.
5. Meal prepping
I’ve gone through phases over the years, but I’ve really found my rhythm again lately. Having the freezer stocked with ready-to-go work & school lunches, dinners and home baking makes the week so much easier. Beef & venison meatballs in a rich tomato sauce were a fav this past week. How have I only just found venison, so good!
6. Free protein 😅
+ living by the ocean! It truly is the dream.

Just me & my teenage business… learning as we go!

🦄 Dinosaur & unicorn prints will never go out of fashion. Forever a favourite, just not mine. 😂

🩹 Cardboard cuts hurt at least 10x more than paper cuts. Ouch!

💙 We’ve had 300+ Sarahs place orders. WILD! Closely followed by Emmas! Where you at girls! 👀

🔪 Changing the tajima blade is a blue job, not mine. 💙

📦 I have a strong appreciation for the perfect odd-sized box. IYKYK.

💸 Many emails bring joy. The freight invoice is not one of them.

🎄 Planning the Christmas season starts offensively early.
