Hi 👋
We have lots of new followers on here so thought I would re introduce myself!
Firstly, thank you so much for following us and supporting our little business by purchasing books since the show last week, we have been sooo overwhelmed with orders and support ❤️
I am packaging them around my working hours and toddler life as fast as I can so thank you for your patience :)
My name is Harriet and I was known as Gurt growing up. I grew up on a sheep and beef farm on Banks Peninsula with my parents and my brother.
I became a primary school teacher following university and have always lived rurally and I love nothing more than being outside with my animals.
I always had this burning desire when I was teaching to write a children’s book and be a farmer and after a huge life change I decided life was far too short to not follow your dreams 💭💤🛌
I started while I was in the UK grooming and when I landed back in NZ I picked up Bob ‘n’ Pops from the printers. To hold your first published book in your own hands is something I’ll never forget!
Since then I have written 4 books in total and my main character Pops was my best friend who did everything with me. She has met a lot of you in our travels over the years and was a one in a million sausage dog. We are still extremely heart broken over losing Pops to several types of cancer that were not able to be cured but her memory lives on in her books and in Archie’s huge chats about her every day.
I live at Jericho Station with my wonderful husband Ed and our 2 year old son Archie. We farm perendale sheep, Angus cattle, breed x bred horses, have a pet deer called DD, a spaniel called Fern, our working dogs and love our life here on the farm. There is inspiration for writing every day!
I work on the farm during the day with our team and work my business around this. We host educational workshops in rural schools around health, safety and wellbeing that are sponsored by a range of different companies around the country.
If you would love to host a day at your rural school please reach out!
Thank you for being here with me on my journey 🥰🥰
