Travel safe everyone & thinking of those going through the after effects of this weather event π
Our hearts are with everyone in the WaihΔ« Beach community and the wider region who has been affected by the recent weather event. We know for some this has been overwhelming, exhausting, and deeply upsetting. π
We want to say a huge thank you to those who have stepped in to help with shelter, clean-ups, checking on neighbours, and everything in between. The care, generosity, and quiet mahi happening across our community and beyond has been incredibly moving, and a powerful reminder that no one stands alone in times like these.
Some of our local eateries and businesses have had to temporarily close, with others facing significant damage and long clean-ups ahead. We ask for patience and understanding during this time. When these businesses are able to reopen, they will need our support more than ever. So please bear with them, and show them a little extra kindness when you can.
For the most up-to-date information around roading and safety, we recommend keeping an eye on the Western Bay of Plenty District Council weather event hub here:

Please take care of yourselves and each other. π
