I officially take my hat off to all the content creators out there who share their lives on social media. Like, for real — nothing but the UTMOST respect from me! 🙌
How you all manage to deal with the negative, irrelevant and completely unnecessary comments from bored ass people is honestly beyond me. 🤦♀️
Yesterday, I posted a pic from security camera footage showing a ute, in the hopes that whoever was responsible would do the right thing and return my nephew’s stolen scooter.
Simple enough, right? WRONG. 😂
Instead, the comment section turned into an absolute circus. We had people stereotyping our Māori and Pacific Island whānau as thieves, name-calling, ridiculous assumptions and even accusations that the entire situation was made up just to gain engagement.
Like WHAT?! All over a kid’s stolen scooter? 😭
And the worst part? I actually found myself getting sucked into it. Reading comments, replying, defending myself and entertaining absolute nonsense until I finally realised how ridiculous it was that I’d even allowed myself to be dragged into that BS.
It really made me realise just how much rubbish content creators must deal with on a DAILY basis.
So to every content creator out there who continues to show up, put themselves out there, cop the hate, ignore the noise and STILL manage to live their best life — you have a whole new level of respect from us here at Kick Plug NZ! 🫶
Because apparently, posting on social media isn’t just about sharing content anymore. You’ve gotta have thick skin, unlimited patience and the ability to ignore people who have absolutely nothing better to do with their time. 😂
Moral of the story? Not every comment deserves your energy, and not every opinion deserves a response. 💯
Much love, fam! 🖤
