Sheep Sheering π
It is almost that time of year for our farms across New Zealand when the sheep are rounded up by the farmers and farm dogs and brought in to pens before being shorn.
The shearers are highly skilled and often aim to remove the fleece in one piece in a couple of minutes, without causing harm to the sheep themselves.
The fleece is then thrown onto a table to be sorted and here they are βgradedβ by the wool classer, someone who sorts the wool by weight, colour and quality before it can be sold.
Devold sources only the finest merino wool from a select group of South Island farms.
We work closely with our growers to ensure every fibre meets our standard - with a preference for longer-length merino, prized for its exceptional softness, durability and next-to-skin comfort.
