Some of the tiles that disappeared into the Portuguese postal system and never made it home to NZ. 🕊️ Hope they are all happily living up large on a splashback somewhere in Europe. 🥲🥲🥲

Azulejo is a classic form of Portuguese painted tin-glazed ceramic tilework. The tiles are traditionally painted blue and white but today the teacher let me go rogue and paint a lil lemon! 🍋 I am thinking once glazed and fired these lemon tiles will make the perfect coasters for summer gin and tonics… watch this space. 🍹😏🧊✨

Hola! I haven’t been doing much work on Sunday Projects lately hehe but I have been reading some brilliant books that I want to share. 🫶 These are all by New Zealand writers and are really readable. They are stories which will get you right in the feels! Enjoy! 📖

SP BOOK CLUB - KIWI EDITION 🥝
⭐️ The Bookseller at the End of the World by Ruth Shaw ⭐️ A well written non-fiction book about Ruth’s fascinating and full life. A gem of a memoir by an inspiring woman.
⭐️ Loop Tracks by Sue Orr ⭐️ A novel that travels between past and present, looking into some deep issues including abortion, discrimination, addiction and a number of other social and political issues. I learned a lot and think schools should make this required reading.
⭐️ Auē by Becky Manawatu ⭐️ A heartbreaking and beautifully written novel. It got me thinking deeply about our culture and our country. Couldn’t stop reading it!
⭐️ We Can Make a Life by Chessie Henry ⭐️ One of my favorite New Zealand books! An honest and consuming memoir about the Christchurch and Kaikōura earthquakes, the healthcare industry and the beauty and complexity of family life.
