In winter we often have a bit more capacity to do non-bridal projects. Quite some time ago, we were commissioned by Ministry of Defence to make Kapa Haka dresses for the ladies for opening ceremonies both for National and international events. They often open for sporting events overseas, welcome people into the country and many other events.

We made a full size range and the fabric has some stretch elastene for movement during their performance and are fully lined. These dresses are designed to be worn for many years with durability in mind.

These garments were designed, patternmade, cut and constructed here in our Wellington, NZ workroom. All apparel is designed and constructed in our workroom onsite.

This bride wanted the grooms family tartan incorporated into her wedding dress somehow so we decided to use the fabric to make a lace up tie for the back for her dress as a nod to the family history and the two families tying together. So happy with how it turned out! 🙌

Custom made Zowie Dee dress for a Sister of the Bride 💖🪡🧵 This dress was made in a heavier weight fabric that had a bit of stretch and was fully lined. The bodice was gathered and the off the shoulder sleeves were fitted, but I added an internal elastic for extra stretch and movement for all the hugs she planned to do over the course of the evening! - close up pic shows the elastic I added internally.

In winter we often do work for various companies and businesses who need bespoke work completed. Te Papa is one of the company’s we have worked with for many years on a range of projects. This commission we got to do, was for dust covers to be made for 4 long hanging art pieces that needed to be protected.

The cylinders were made in different circumstances and lengths for the art pieces, and had boning casing panels to keep the structures popped out in shape. The bottoms had drawstrings for dust protection and the tops had a drawstring, tie to hang and inner padded insert with a boning rim which tied in place to both add to the structure and catch dust or moths that could fall in the drawstring hole at the top for further protection. The padded insert and bases were also colour coded with tabs so the the pieces don’t get mixed up.

Custom made lace gloves are all the rage lately! We have made so many to go with wedding dresses! Such a cool bridal accessory! These were made from the same fabric as the lace godet insert as the wedding dress. 💖🧵🪡

I love it when a bride returns a few years later wanting to revamp a wedding dress 🥰🙌💖

I got the pleasure of crossing paths with this gorgeous lady a second time in her dress to revamp it so she can re-wear it for her nursing graduation 👩‍🎓 Such a cool idea! She is even going to use the off-cuts of the hem to go around her xmas tree to be like snow seen as thought it is already hemmed! 💖🎄

I had a super cool customer come see me a while ago who scored a strapless pinstripe top and matching trousers from an op-shop she knew her Son would absolutely love for DnD nights if I was able to turn the top into a waistcoat. 🐉 🗡️

Such a cool project. Bet he totally rocked it. 🪡

We are currently in off peak season and still have quick turnaround times for standard alterations jobs so raid your wardrobes and see what summer clothes need fixing up before the weather improves to keep us busy until our workload picks back up! We would love to help 💖✂️🪡

This job was from a local ballet school. The student bought some new shoes and before even wearing them forgot to tie the elastics and they shot up into the casing. We opened up the binding and retrieved the elastics for the client and closed the binding back up. 🧵

The gray dress is a custom made Zowie Dee, lined version of the cream unlined dress with a wider hipline for a better fit on the clients shape than the original. We also lengthened the hem so it was suitable for a more formal event. This client chose to wear this new dress to her daughter’s school ball 💖
