All coats are completely waterproof (seam-sealed, rated to 10,000mm), light to wear and designed with comfort and longevity in mind. Okewa is the new rainwear for men and women.

As we wrap up Okewa now (every last coat is sold!), we wanted to thank a few folks for their support.

The world of garment manufacturing gets under your skin. There is so much heart and skill that goes into how garments are made, and too many untold stories. Our industry has not done a good job of highlighting the brilliant makers who clothe us. Okewa’s journey with manufacturing has been a hugely rewarding (and challenging) part of the ride. Thanks to Emily & Steve at Jaedon in Auckland, and Stuart (in those days) and the team at Albion Clothing in Christchurch. For our manufacturing since 2017, a big thanks to Delman, Christelle, Nattapon and their teams at TAL Apparel who took us on and we’re hugely supportive of our small business. Shoutout to Jill Demain and Patagonia, too. It was their Footprint Chronicles (transparently publishing Patagonia’s makers) that helped us find the TAL team when we were in a tight spot without a manufacturer.

Finally, the big thanks to the creative and retail community around Okewa over the years. Our original Wellington crew of Richard Ban, Di Clapperton and others have been amazing. For a run at international growth, it was great to work with Jo Knight, Kelvin Soh and others for collection and brand work. For all the retailers and Pop-Ups – Nicola at Cranfields, Vicki at The Shelter, the best little airport in the world here in Wellington supporting our local business – we’re very grateful!

We’d love you to get in touch if you’ve got spares/extra coats that you’d love to sell – we’ll aim to recycle them and find a buyer for your secondhand Okewa. Just email [email protected].

As we wrap up Okewa now (every last coat is sold!), we wanted to thank a few folks for their support.

It's with lots of pride (and some sadness) that we share some news that Okewa's journey has come to an end. The road has been full of twists, turns, difficulties and great highs! We've loved bringing quality raincoats to you. We've played at the slower end of the things, creating timeless, quality raincoats and doing this as responsibly as possible. It's time for new doors be opened and so now we'll be closing this door.

We're very thankful for our community who believe in buying less and buying well, and in treasuring items. Thank you for believing in our products, for wearing our coats and recommending them to friends and family, and embracing this rainy country we live in. We appreciate this community that has formed, those who received compliments on the streets, being stopped in lifts to ask what coat you're wearing, conversations on the train about your coat, the wonderful family in Wellington who have nine coats between them. Thank you.

We've got a small amount of black fabric and blue fabric at our manufacturers, so if there's one last coat you really want, flick us an email with details and the size you're after and we'll see what we can do. We'll make this final run on a first in, first served basis.

We also have some very limited numbers of coats left in stock now listed online – grab your favourite coat to weather the years ahead.

Thank you again for all of the phenomenal support for Okewa over the years, and we hope you'll continue to wear your coats with love.
