We have a fantastic opportunity to become the voice of the Newlands Toy Library Committee as our Communications Advisor!

We're looking for a friendly, organised person to join our Toy Library Committee as a volunteer Communications Advisor. Our toy library is run by volunteers and gives local families a way to borrow great toys, save money and keep playtime fresh. You'll help families and our wider community hear about new toys, opening hours, events and ways to get involved.

You don't need to be a professional communicator. A warm tone, a bit of creativity and a love of community will take you a long way, and the committee will support you throughout. Please get in touch by either emailing [email protected] or send us a private message.

This week we want to thank Bridget!

Bridget is our amazing secretary. Not only is she great at taking minutes and organising committee meetings, she always has fantastic ideas to contribute and advice to share which helps inform a lot of decisions. Bridget has three young children, and is a very busy mum who is also highly involved in the Newlands Tamariki Playcentre as well. All the mahi she does for our community is appreciated by many.

Thank you for all that you do Bridget!

Kia ora, we need your help! Are you able to come and help at the Toy Library tonight? Our volunteer can no longer make it, and we won't be able to open without an extra person. Please get in touch ASAP if you can help.

This week we want to thank Michael!

Michael is a bit like Santa (and dresses like him sometimes too!) as Toy Purchaser, he orders and tests all the new toys for the library, and repairs broken ones. If you have ever wondered how the toys are engraved, it was most likely done by hand by Michael. He has spent a lot of time engraving a lot of toys!

Thank you so much Michael for everything you have you done for the Toy Library over the past 3 years - We are so grateful.

This week are thanking Janelle!

Janelle has been a part of the committee for a few years, and since joining, has put in a ton of hard mahi! She is the reason we have so many great new toys, as she has put together many grant applications. Not only that, she is also co-chairperson. We are so grateful for everything Janelle does.

This week we want to thank Sophia!

Sophia has been part of the committee since Jan 2024. Soon after joining she took on the role as co-chairperson. She played a big part in keeping the toy library running when we temporarily closed due to the community centre roof blowing off 🫣. Sophia has also run a few successful stock takes, reviewed and updated multiple policies and procedures, and has been an all-round great volunteer.

Over the next few weeks we are going to be recognizing our amazing volunteers on the committee and thank them for everything they do!

First up, Karla, our incredible Treasurer. She has been in the role for a couple of years now and has put in a lot of hard mahi. Sadly she is going to be finishing up on the committee soon, so if you are either willing to learn some book keeping skills, or already have experience, we would love to hear from you!
